Our partners at the New York State Department of Transportation, a GTC member agency, are developing a new Active Transportation Strategic Plan to improve walking, biking, wheelchair use and micromobility across New York State.

Rochester is one of just three locations statewide where NYSDOT will hold an in-person public meeting to seek feedback. Participants can learn about the plan’s goals and provide input on strategies and actions for implementation.

It was nice meeting and talking with people at our booth at the Genesee County Fair on Wednesday. We had meaningful conversations about highway safety.

Residents shared firsthand observations about several locations across Genesee County, including requests for improved turning movements at Oak Street and Park Road, concerns about speeding and near misses along Route 77 in Indian Falls, and traffic congestion and pedestrian safety challenges during concert events near Colby and Sumner Roads in Darien. We also heard repeated concerns about potholes and roadway conditions, especially in the Le Roy area.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share your experiences. Every conversation and map comment helps us better understand local safety concerns and will help shape the Genesee County Local Road Safety Plan. Thanks to Highland Planning LLC for staffing the booth!

The Genesee Transportation Council (GTC) will be at The Genesee County Fair Batavia, NY on East Main Street Road, Batavia on Wed., July 22, from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. gathering your input for the Genesee County, NY Local Road Safety Plan.
