You may not know anyone that is homeless, but you may know a veteran, and they may know someone. The federal government defines a veteran as homeless if they: 1) Are living in a transitional houseing setting, 2) Their salary falls below a certain cost of living amount for the county that they live in, 3) They recently got out of a treatment program, 4) They have recently been released from being incarcerated, or 5) They are living in a friends house.
