June a time to celebrate love, acceptance, and the diversity that makes our community stronger. We have come so far β€” and I remain committed to standing with the LGBTQ+ community to ensure every person is treated with dignity and full equality. This month and every month, I am proud to celebrate with you. 🌈

The FY’27 budget is a win for NY students. Every district across the state will receive at least a 2% increase in Foundational Aid – including all schools in the 138th Assembly District. Education is the single most important tool we can give the children of today to succeed in this rapidly changing world. 🏫

A significant number of child lead poisoning cases are linked to home renovation, repair, and painting ("RRP") activities β€” work that, if not performed safely, can spread toxic lead dust throughout a family's home. That's why A2749 was introduced β€” to enable New York State to assume oversight of RRP rules, training, certification, and enforcement. The goal is simple: safer homes and better protection for our children.

At a time when families in my district are struggling with their utility bills, groceries, and the everyday cost of just getting by β€” I voted for the POWER rebate program because they deserve real relief. Over 8 million New Yorkers will receive a check of up to $200 September through December β€” automatically, no strings attached. This isn't a cure-all, but it's real relief for real people.

New York has some of the strongest worker protections in the country, but when it comes to paid medical leave β€” we’re falling behind. Workers diagnosed with an illness or injured outside of work shouldn't have to choose between their health and their paycheck. Our temporary disability insurance system hasn't kept pace with the real costs families face today, and that needs to change. I'm proud to be fighting for modernized paid medical leave that works for workers AND small businesses.

Ghost guns are a growing threat β€” that’s why I am proud to support first in the nation legislation that will regulate 3D printers to prevent them from being used to print untraceable fi****ms in NY. This law was part of a larger budget package that will require all 3D printers sold in our state to include software that will block the printing of a gun β€” a move I believe will increase safety across our communities.

While the full FY'27 State Budget is still being finalized, I'm proud to share that education funding has been voted on β€” and it delivers real wins for NY students and families. A 2% Foundation Aid increase, more time for districts to transition to all-electric buses, an expanded Opportunity Promise Scholarship for high-demand careers, additional BOCES funding, and a back-to-basics math curriculum. Every child deserves the tools to thrive, and this is a meaningful step forward.

Today we remember and give thanks to the fallen heroes who gave everything to protect the freedoms we hold dear. May we honor their legacy not just today, but every day.

Volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers run toward danger so we don't have to β€” the least we can do is make sure New York has their backs. Proud to have helped pass legislation increasing the personal income tax credit for volunteer first responders. It's a small but meaningful way to recognize the sacrifices they make every day.

Harvey Milk didn't just break barriers β€” he showed what's possible when you refuse to be invisible. On this , we remember a leader who transformed grief and exclusion into political power, and whose words still ring true: "You gotta give 'em hope." His legacy lives on in every fight for LGBTQ+ equality.
