Proud to stand with my colleague and friend Senator Michelle Hinchey and local labor leaders to call on Governor Hochul to sign the AI Labor Information Act into law. This first-in-the-nation legislation passed both the Assembly and Senate last session and now awaits the governor’s signature. Our bill would require employers to report how AI is being used in their business models, including hiring, so the state can establish best practices ahead of AI's impact on the workforce. This is a chance for New York to lead the nation on understanding AI's effect on our labor market — protecting workers while keeping our businesses competitive.

Great meeting with Lori VanAuken and her team at Catholic Charities Family and Community Services in Rochester to see the work they do for families across our 12-county region — from behavioral health and housing to services for seniors, people with disabilities, and refugees and immigrants. For over 100 years, CCFCS has met people at every stage of life, regardless of faith. Thank you for the critical work you do and for hosting me.

On this anniversary of the 19th Amendment, we remember Rochester's own Susan B. Anthony and the suffragists who fought to secure women's right to vote. We honor their legacy by continuing the fight for justice and equality today.

Big news! 📣 My office just opened a Little Free Office!

Today I was joined by Rochester City School District Superintendent Rosser, Emily Clasper, Director of Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County NY and Chris Fanning, Deputy Director of Writers & Books to promote the success of this years NYS Summer Reading Challenge and reading access in our community with the opening of this Little Free Library.

The library, which is located right outside my district office, was designed and painted by Rochester-based artist Unique Fair and features portraits of Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass.

Books and literacy truly bring people and ideas together and all of the books in the book box were recommended by libraries, schools, independent bookstores and summer reading participants from my district!

Look for the bright yellow LFL on University Ave to pick up your next read, contribute a book or suggest one for the collection! And don’t forget to stop in to share what you’re reading. 📚💛
