If you come to the main office, you are likely to run into some wildlife. Mostly turkeys. They sort of run the show around here.

But every once in a while, we get a baby trying to take a mid-day snooze next to the playground.

Last week, we said goodbye and good luck to our University of Minnesota Rochester students who volunteered with Hiawatha Homes. It was a wonderful celebration to hear about what they've learned during their time with Hiawatha Homes, and also the other student's volunteer experiences in the Rochester community.

To Brooklyn, Emily and Mariam, don't be strangers! You're always welcome to come back to Hiawatha Homes!

Happy May Day! We got together for a little crafting fun at the activity center and made May Day baskets.

Did you know May Day baskets were first distributed in the United States in the late 1800s? May Day baskets are dropped off at people's doorsteps and filled with tons of treats. We filled ours with candy, Play-Doh, flower seeds, and chalk. Nice work, everyone!

Do you still deliver May Day baskets?

What a great night with some of our favorite people!

Yesterday, we gathered for our annual Hiawatha Homes Inc. and Foundation joint board meeting. The evening was full of connection, celebration, and looking ahead.

We’re excited to welcome new and returning board members who are ready to jump in and make a difference:

Hiawatha Homes Inc. Board
• Jennifer Hewerdine
• Tim Kelly
• Philip Hommerding

Hiawatha Homes Foundation Board
• Crystal Landherr
• Philip Pelto
• Nick Pederson

We also celebrated three incredible leaders as they wrapped up their board service. Michelle Pyffereon, Deb Falbo, and Roger Dearth have each left a lasting mark on Hiawatha Homes, and we’re so grateful for their years of dedication.

Help us thank them in the comments!
