Not traveling this summer? No problem! Whether you're planning a staycation, relaxing on the porch, or enjoying a quiet evening at home, we have plenty of books to help you escape without ever leaving town.

Loansome Chapters has several new arrivals in a variety of genres, including many recently published titles from 2025 and 2026. Stop in and discover the book you didn't know you needed—but won't want to put down!

Loansome Chapters June 2026 Hours:
Tuesdays: 3:30–6:00 PM�Wednesdays: 9:00–11:30 AM

We realize these hours may not work for everyone, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need a different time to stop by. Most of the time, we’re happy to accommodate a visit outside of our regular hours.

We will also be pausing our Wednesday morning story-time program for the summer as our volunteers and story-time families enjoy their busy summer schedules and activities. Tentative plans are to resume our weekly themed story-times in August.

Even though story-time is on summer break, we are still open Wednesday mornings and would love to have our story-time friends stop in anytime for a quick read, a game, a puzzle, a craft, or some creative building fun at our new Lego table. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Did you know that Loansome Chapters has a book club?

Last week, 10 of us gathered for our very first book club discussion featuring our April Showers theme selection, The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros. It was definitely a tear-jerker, and while there were plenty of tissues needed, most of our members absolutely loved the book. We also have a copy available to check out if anyone is interested in reading it. It comes highly recommended.

If joining a book club sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to have you! Our May theme is “May-be Read a New Author,” and the group selected Storybook Ending by Moira Macdonald which was one of the few books none of us had read before.

We’ll be meeting on June 24th to discuss the book, so there’s still plenty of time to read and join in on the conversation…just reach out!

Take one home, put your feet up, and give those tired hands, backs, and feet a well-deserved rest. Pair your new book with your favorite refreshment and enjoy a relaxing evening.

We’re open today from 3:30–6:00 PM, forgot something at home so maybe 3:35) and we’d love to help you find the perfect read.

Tomorrow we’ll be open from 9:00–11:30 AM, with our “Dinos and Dragons” story-time theme beginning at 10:00. We’ll read some fun books about these prehistoric and mystical creatures, followed by a special activity where the kids can dig for their very own dinosaur eggs.

Last week, seven little adventurers joined us for our bear hunt story-time fun. Thank you to Sheri Dahl Jones for the wonderful pictures!

We’re open tonight from 3:30–6:00 PM and tomorrow morning from 9:00–11:30 AM.

And don’t forget that tomorrow’s 10 AM story-time theme is Bear Adventures. Bring along your favorite teddy bear to join us for stories, snacks, and fun.

Last week we read about bugs and a bird that lost its home. We attempted to make caterpillar snacks and personalized bug bands. (I was too engrossed in my snack and missed getting more pictures….sorry.)

We are open from 9-11:30 this morning (May 13th) with story time at 10. Come join us for stories, snacks and activities all about birds and bugs.

Last week we were small in numbers but big at heart as we read stories about moms, dads and grandmas and painted the “shapes” of our family tree.

Have you been putting us off? No hard feelings—but “May-be” it’s time to swing into Loansome Chapters and check us out. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by our selection of new and popular authors. Pick up something new this month—whether it’s an author you’ve never tried, a different genre, or that classic you’ve been meaning to read but keep putting off. Our May themes are “May-be Favorites” and family-themed reads…perfect for discovering your next great book.

As we celebrate families, our story-time theme tomorrow (May 6th) is “Families Come in All Shapes and Sizes.” We meet at 10 AM for the stories, followed by a snack and activity.
