🚧 Road Work Notice 🚧
Martin & Co. crews will be grinding roadways to prepare them for new asphalt on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
The affected locations are:
1. East 5th Street from Ave E to Ave D
2. Ave D from Dixon Ave to East 5th Street
3. 11th Ave from 5th Ave to 6th Ave
4. 8th Ave from West 10th Street to West 5th Street
Please use caution in these areas and allow extra time for travel. Thank you for your patience as this work is completed.

PRESS RELEASE FROM ROCK FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT
RE: GEORGE FEST – ROAD CLOSURES
Friday, July 31st, 2026
(Rock Falls, IL) On Saturday, August 1st, 2026, W. 2nd Street from 1st Avenue to 4th Avenue and the municipal lot at W. 2nd Street/4th Avenue on the Northeast side of the street will be closed due to George Fest.
Parking will be available at the municipal lot located at W. 1st Street and 1st Avenue and also the municipal lot at the Firehouse Fire Museum (Southwest corner of W. 2nd Street/4th Avenue).
Road closures will begin shortly after 6:00am and will be CLOSED until at least the mid-morning of Sunday August 2nd for cleanup and removal of barricades. Barricades will be placed along the roadways preventing unauthorized vehicles access to these locations.
Additional road closures will occur along E. 2nd Street from Wood Avenue to the area of the Walking Bridge due to the Chicken Chase 5K and Little Chicks Dash. The road closures will begin around 7:30am and end around 12:00pm.

📢 Public Notice: W**d Control Spraying
The City of Rock Falls will be spraying 3% Glyphosate and 2-4D on public right-of-way areas to help control weeds on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Spraying is planned for the following locations:
• W. 1st St from 1st Ave to 2nd Ave
• W. 2nd St from 1st Ave to 5th Ave
• 1st Ave from 1st St to 4th St
• 2nd Ave from W. 1st St to the first alley south of W. 2nd St
• 3rd Ave from W. 2nd St to 1st Ave
• 4th Ave from W. 1st St to the first alley south of W. 2nd St
• 5th Ave from W. 1st St to the first alley south of W. 2nd St
• Municipal parking lots
• 905 E. 11th St
• RB&W Park

🚧 Street Improvements Coming Soon 🚧
Starting early next week, crews from Martin & Co. will be replacing damaged sections of concrete curb and gutter in preparation for the upcoming Mill & Overlay project scheduled for the last week of July.

📍Concrete curb and gutter replacements will take place on:
• 8th Avenue from 10th Street to 5th Street
• The corner of Avenue D and East 5th Street

🛣️ Mill & Overlay project locations include:
• 8th Avenue from 10th Street to 5th Street
• West 11th Street from 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue
• Avenue D from Dixon Avenue to East 5th Street
• East 5th Street from Avenue E to Avenue D
