Hennepin Canal North Feeder A community of people who love and support the Hennepin Canal Feeder and the Canal as a whole. Volunteers that will protect and preserve and be a voice.

We are about protecting, preserving and making sure the Hennepin Canal Feeder is properly cared for and upgraded. Illinois Department Of Natural Resources has been cut back from 13 Maintenance workers to 3 today. The State Of Illinois is in financial distress and has neglected to properly take care of this beautiful Recreation Trail. Our group will work to be a voice for this feeder canal and the

canal as a whole to seek improvements, cleanup, more workers, we support the IDNR and their organization and all groups and organizations along the trail.

Join the Yak Yak Sisters Wednesday evenings.

The Yak Yak Sisters are going to start their Wednesday night paddle beginning Wednesday, May 21st at 4:30 p.m! We will kayak on the Hennepin Canal for approximately two hours. We'll launch at the boat ramp on Route 40 in Rock Falls near the Candlelight Inn.

They're kayaks to rent, first come first serve. Check it out ahead of time so you know what's involved to rent a kayak. The rentals have nothing to do with the Yak Yak Sisters.

Also, we have men in our group so don't let our name scare you off! We'll catch you on the water.

If you're wanting more information on the Hennepin Canal, be sure to stop by the Visitor Center located in the Hennepin Canal State Park's Main Complex near Sheffield. Have a look at the displays and take some maps and brochures to help plan your trip. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise noted. We keep information and maps stocked outside the main entrance for those who visit outside regular hours.
