This morning, the Rock Hill Fire Department hosted the hands-on portion of the NYS Basic Passenger Vehicle Rescue course. Firefighters from across Sullivan County participated in a variety of vehicle extrication skills and practical rescue scenarios.

Congratulations to Firefighters Johnson, Blakesley, Lotto, and Blon on successfully completing the course! We appreciate your time, dedication, and commitment to continuing your training and serving our community.

It’s been a busy day for Rock Hill’s bravest! 🚒

Our members were dispatched to standby at the Monticello Firehouse while Monticello firefighters operated at a structure fire in their district. While on standby, our members were dispatched to a medical emergency. Shortly after returning to service from that call, crews were dispatched to a commercial vehicle fire in the Rock Hill Fire District.

Proud of our members for answering the call whenever and wherever they are needed!

The Rock Hill Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the Brugger family and the members of the City of Poughkeepsie, Plattekill, and Milton Fire Departments. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and fellow first responders during this difficult time. May they both rest in peace.

The Town of Thompson FASTeam was on scene at this multi-alarm structure fire in Orange County, providing mutual aid alongside our neighboring agencies.

A special thank you to the White Lake Fire Department for covering our district while our members were operating at the incident. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Yesterday was a busy day for the Rock Hill Fire Department’s Special Operations resources, with our members being requested for two separate incidents simultaneously.

Our Special Operations units were initially dispatched to assist the Narrowsburg Fire Department with a swift water response on the Delaware River. While our units were responding, we were canceled from the incident and returned to service.

At the same time, our Search and Rescue resources were requested to assist with a search for a couple who became lost while hiking in the trail system in the Neversink Unique area. Our members worked alongside Catskills Hatzolah Search and Rescue as resources were deployed to locate the missing hikers.

We would like to thank the Sullivan County Division of Public Safety, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and Sullivan County 911 Center for their assistance and coordination during the Neversink search.

Incidents like these demonstrate the importance of maintaining highly trained and specialized volunteer resources capable of responding to a wide variety of emergencies throughout our community and region.

We are proud of our members who continue to train, maintain specialized equipment, and answer the call when their skills are needed.

This past week, Firefighters Tet Tun and Hunter Ethridge traveled to Montgomery County to successfully complete the Emergency Boat Operations and Rescue Course.

We congratulate Tet and Hunter on this outstanding accomplishment and thank them for their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to invest their personal time to expand their skills. Their commitment to continuous training helps ensure the Rock Hill Fire Department remains prepared to serve our community in any emergency.

The knowledge and experience gained during this course further strengthens the capabilities of the Rock Hill Roscoe Rockland Joint Special Operations Task Force, enhancing our ability to respond safely and effectively to water based emergencies throughout Sullivan County and beyond.

This past Saturday, members of the Rock Hill Fire Department had a great time participating in the Rock Hill Farmers Market Touch a Truck event alongside our friends from the Rock Hill Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet members of our community, give families a chance to explore our apparatus, and talk about the important work our volunteers do every day. We always enjoy seeing the excitement on children’s faces as they climb aboard the trucks, check out the equipment, and learn a little more about fire safety and emergency services.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us and to the organizers of the Rock Hill Farmers Market for hosting another fantastic community event. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our neighbors and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
