🗣️PSA - Congressman and Gubernatorial candidate Ralph Norman is currently attempting to mislead the public to get more votes, now claiming that "he never supported Silfab" and that he "doesn't know about the chemicals".
The well documented facts are that Ralph Norman took campaign contributions from Silfab's lobbying firm, Ralph personally called every member of the York County Council and heavily pressured them to approve the unlawful Silfab project back in 2023, and Ralph also misled the public about Silfab's chemicals on numerous occasions, and yelled at constituents for speaking out against Silfab, including during his 2024 pro-Silfab forum, where he attempted to silence the Fort Mill's outcry about the factory.
🚩 According to Congressman Ralph Norman (during his August 2024 pro-Silfab forum):
"There are more chemicals at Home Depot and Walmart …I’m not at all concerned about it after looking into it."
🚩 According to York County Councilman Watts Huckabee (during August 2023 vote to approve Silfab):
"I’m going to say publicly, Ralph Norman supports this project [Silfab]…”
🚩 According to the University of South Carolina's Arnold School of Public Health:
"Accidents, terrorism, or vandalism causing a chemical release at Silfab, coupled with damage to or failure of the facility’s safety systems would pose a significant threat to public health and safety within 6 miles from the facility. Whereas 21 bulk chemicals and compounds would be regularly stored and used at Silfab, this report demonstrates the significant risks associated with only five of them: ammonia, nitrous oxide, silane, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid. Further, this report does not consider potential hazardous effects associated with chemical reactions and mixing, particulates, hazardous fragments, synergetic effects, and cascading events. All five of the modeled chemicals/compounds produced toxic clouds from direct sources or evaporating puddles. Ammonia and silane were estimated to produce large red toxicity zones extending for more than a mile from the Silfab Facility. Of particular concern, ammonia would likely pose an immediate danger to life or health (IDLH) for well over 2.1 miles from the Facility. The largest yellow toxicity zones were estimated to be produced by ammonia and the two acid compounds. The radius produced by ammonia was estimated to be greater than 6 miles; and the hydrochloric acid and the hydrofluoric acid, could produce radii of approximately 3.5 and 2.3 miles, respectively."
Ralph Norman's heavy support and push for Silfab is very well documented (he was likely the deciding factory in the York County's narrow 4-3 vote to approve Silfab) - Silfab's unlawful operations and risk to Fort Mill are also very well documented 👇
