In a continued effort to strengthen ties with the surrounding community, RIA is proud to announce its partnership with the Quad Cities.

Located in the heart of the QC, RIA occupies a 946-acre island in the Mississippi River. This historic military installation has played a vital role in major American conflicts, from the Civil War to the present day, since its establishment in 1862.

As the nation celebrates America's 250th, this new experience connects the past to the present and invites visitors to explore 13 points of interest. Along the way, participants can enjoy scenic views of the Mississippi River, outdoor recreation, historic landmarks, and meaningful moments of patriotism.

This tradition, known as โ€œFlags In,โ€ takes place annually on the Thursday before Memorial Day.

In the early morning dawn on May 21, 2026, Soldiers of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) marched into Arlington National Cemetery, their rucksacks packed with small American flags.

Their mission: honor Americaโ€™s fallen heroes by placing a flag in front of each headstone and columbarium column โ€” approximately 250,000 at ANC and 13,500 at the Soldiersโ€™ and Airmenโ€™s Home National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

More than 80 years after his death, ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™™๐™–๐™ก ๐™ค๐™› ๐™ƒ๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ง recipient Army Capt. Willibald Bianchi's remains were identified by the Defense POW / MIA Accounting Agency, and on May 2, he was buried in his hometown alongside his parents and his sisters.
