Quad Cities Democratic Socialists of America (QCDSA) is a local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist political organization in the United States, with tens of thousands of members in all 50 states. We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few.

Unlike corporate Democrats like Rob Sand who try to appeal to “both sides” by discarding trans people, democratic socialists fight for ALL working people.

Iowa Democratic Governor Candidate Rob Sand becomes the latest to throw transgender people under the bus.

In an interview this weekend, he told Politico that "girls sports are for girls," decrying Democrats for being too caught up in "culture war" issues.

Boycott Starbucks!

America’s unions are proud to endorse SBWorkersUnited's boycott of stand-alone corporate Starbucks stores.

Workers are fed up with unchecked corporate greed, and we’re standing with them in their fight for a fair contract.

Solidarity with UAW Deere workers!

🚨 UAW DEERE MEMBERS REJECT CONTRACT EXTENSION OFFER 🚨

Members of the United Auto Workers at John Deere voted on Sunday to reject the company’s proposal to extend the current collective bargaining agreement through 2029.

“While John Deere continues to outsource jobs, 1,600 workers are still laid off. Our members rejected Deere’s offer to extend their contract because they know their worth and what they deserve,” said UAW President Shawn Fain. “The company failed to make an offer that addressed the issues weighing on the minds of our members, especially job security. We’ll see Deere at the table in 2027.”

The company’s financial record makes clear why workers believe they deserve an equal voice in decisions about the contract.

Deere made nearly $5 billion in profit in 2025 and expects to make another $4.5 billion to $5 billion this year. Last year, the company spent $1.1 billion buying back its own stock and paid shareholders $1.7 billion in dividends, with another $7.9 billion set aside for future stock buybacks. Meanwhile, CEO John May received $27.9 million in total compensation in 2025.

“Our members see billions going to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks, said UAW Vice President Laura Dickerson, Agricultural Implement Department Director, “while the workers whose skill and labor make those profits possible are asked to accept less. Our members know their value and said NO to their offer.”

THE FIGHT BACK CONTINUES! ✊🏽

Tyson is shutting down the Joslin plant and throwing 2,500 workers out of their jobs. But Governor Pritzker has the power to stop it! The state has a duty to protect the workers and families who made this plant run!

Tyson has taken millions in state subsidies. They were built on worker power and public money, not billionaire executives!

Join us this Monday for a community meeting to discuss our next steps! Bring your coworkers, friends, and family!

Join Quad Cities DSA on August 30th at 2PM at The Brewed Book to discuss Shoshana Zuboff's Age of Surveillance Capitalism.

The book explores the insidious form of capitalism that seeks to extract every bit of the human experience to be used for profit and prediction. We will be focusing on the first three chapters of the book, which introduce the terms of surveillance capitalism, behavioral surplus, and prediction products; outline the circumstances that led to the creation of surveillance capitalism; and explains how Google pioneered this form of extraction. We ask that you read these chapters before attending.

Last year Tyson Foods made over $400 million.

It paid its chief executive, Donnie King, over $34 million.

Despite this and without notice, Tyson has cruelly abandoned its workers.

Its closure of the Joslin plant has led to over 2,500 union workers being cast out without a care.

Workers deserve better, workers deserve more, workers deserve a federal jobs guarantee that protects them from the avarice and exploitation of capitalists like Tyson.

Tyson Foods will close its plant in Joslin, Illinois, as company officials said they're dealing with the consequences of a national cattle shortage.
