Christian Care QC Rock Island resident Guy Rodgers founded the Rock Island Rescue Mission--later to become Christian Care--in 1916. that houses Christian Care today.

Our Mission.....
By providing safe shelter, support and resources, Christian Care empowers homeless men to make positive changes in every aspect of their lives. His passion was to provide resources for destitute men in the Quad Cities. Originally, the Rescue Mission was simply one room where men could get help with food, clothing, shelter and spiritual nourishment. In 2004, we moved to the new bu

ilding at 2209 3rd Ave. Rodgers continued his life's vocation until his retirement in 1954. Over the years, services grew to include shelter for men, a meal site, a donation center and a 24/7 Crisis Hotline. We take a holistic approach to healing at Christian Care, focusing on the bodies, minds, hearts and souls of our residents. There is no time limit on how long clients can stay; they are welcome to remain with us as long as they are working to improve their lives. Centering on accountability and responsibility, we help our clients to radically change their thinking and lifestyle--and be productive citizens of the community.

Success Story: "I am grateful for everything that was done for me, through Christian Care QC, Humility Homes and Services, Inc., The Salvation Army, and Goodwill. I have my own apartment now because of the VA. I am living my best life. Christian Care believed in me even when I did not believe in myself. I am living clean and sober today due to all the people that believed in me and helped me. Associate Pastor Jeff is helping me with my Spiritual walk, keeping me on the straight path. National Donut Day is observed on the first Friday of June each year.
The day was established in 1938 by the Salvation Army. It honors the women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. Many bakeries offer free donuts or special deals on this day.
