City of Rock Port would like to introduce Szymon, university student from Poland here as a part of a summer exchange program. He stopped by our office today to introduce himself. If you happen to see him out and about in Atchison during the day knocking on doors, he's selling educational books and apps designed for families with young toddlers all the way to college prep. Please share to let others know in our community.

This is Szymon's first week in Atchison County, so if you see him, don't be afraid to say hi, he's very friendly and excited to be here. He DOES NOT REPRESENT, AND IS NOT AFFILIATED with any of the schools.

City of Rock Port is accepting sealed bids for a 2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 with 90,000 miles. The Silverado is equipped with a plow and salt spreader. Truck has a minimum bid requirement of $3500.00.

City of Rock port is accepting sealed bid for running Air Compressor.

Sealed bids are to be turned into City Hall by July 15th at 4:00 pm. Sealed bids will be opened at the Board of Alderman meeting July 15th.

Unfortunately, we have some sad news to share with our community.

The City Walk Bridge near the park has been inspected by a State-licensed bridge inspector and has been recommended for closure due to structural concerns. The issues identified involve not only portions of the wood decking and supports, but also areas where the wood and metal components of the bridge connect.

This bridge is much more than a structure. For many residents, it is a daily walking route, a connection to our park, and a part of countless memories made over the years. Because of its importance to our community, this matter will be placed on the upcoming City Council agenda for discussion and consideration.

While this news is disappointing, the safety of our residents must remain our top priority. We will be reviewing the inspector's findings, discussing potential options, and determining the best path forward for the future of this valued community asset.

We know many people will have questions and concerns, and we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

As pool season begins, we wanted to remind everyone that any pool deeper than 24 inches is required to be enclosed by a fence at least 42 inches in height with a lockable gate.
