The Rock Springs Police Department announces the retirement of Sergeant Travis Moser, marking the conclusion of a 22-year career in law enforcement. Throughout his tenure, Sergeant Moser has been a vital asset to our agency, demonstrating exceptional versatility across a wide range of demanding assignments.

His career progression saw him move from foundational roles as a Patrol Officer and Bike Patrol Officer into specialized investigations as a Street Crimes Detective. His leadership capabilities were further solidified through his service as a Patrol Sergeant, TRT Entry Team Leader, and ultimately as SWAT Commander. Beyond his tactical contributions, Sergeant Moser’s commitment to the future of the force was evident in his work as a Training Sergeant and Field Training Officer, where he helped shape the next generation of law enforcement professionals.

Sergeant Moser’s expertise and commitment to professional excellence have left an indelible mark on both the department and the community. We thank him for his 22 years of dedication and wish him a rewarding and well-deserved retirement.

At the Rock Springs Police Department, our mission is to protect the people of Rock Springs through constitutional policing, earning the public trust, while caring for each other.

Most of the time, "Protecting the Rock" looks like a patrol car responding to a call or a detective at a scene. But sometimes, it looks like an officer reaching into their own pocket to help a neighbor when the cameras aren't rolling. We recently learned of three such acts of quiet service from our team:

When Detective Morgan learned that a local restaurant had been defrauded, he didn't hesitate. He stepped up and paid the tab himself to ensure the business didn't take the loss.

After a difficult investigation concluded last year, SRO Saloga remained committed to a young person’s well-being. To ensure this student could celebrate a major school milestone with the same pride as their peers, they personally covered the costs of commemorative photos and attire.

Officer Gomez helped a stranded citizen obtain a motel room through a local charity. When he learned that the charity could no longer pay for the room, he took it upon himself to pay for the room with his own money.

These officers didn't do this for a pat on the back; in fact, we only found out through the community grapevine.

We don't just work here; we live here.
