Join us for our next Rockaway Beach Emergency Preparedness Meeting!

Learn how to prepare your home, family, and neighborhood for winter weather, power outages, and other seasonal hazards.

🌎 The Great ShakeOut & Earthquake Preparedness
October is Earthquake Preparedness Month, and we’ll discuss The Great ShakeOut, a worldwide earthquake preparedness and drill initiative. We’ll talk about what to do during an earthquake, how to prepare for a major Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake, and steps you can take now to protect yourself, your family, and your home.

Preparedness starts before the emergency. Join us and get ready!

🚒🏈 Firefighters Supporting Friday Night Football! 🏈🚒

Tonight, firefighters from Nestucca Fire, Tillamook Bay Fire, Garibaldi Fire, Rockaway Beach Fire, and Nehalem Fire came together to provide standby coverage for the Nestucca vs. Neah-Kah-Nie football homecoming game.

It’s a great example of local fire departments working together to help keep our communities safe. From the players and coaches to the families and fans in the stands, having trained emergency responders on hand provides an added layer of safety during these community events.

A huge thank you to all the firefighters who volunteered their time tonight! Your commitment to supporting neighboring communities and working together is what makes the fire service so special. ❤️‍🔥

Please see the attached document for immediate release.

The 2026 Tillamook County Burn Ban will officially terminate on October 1, 2026, at 12:01 a.m.

Restrictions on the use of burn barrels and the burning of small debris piles will be lifted at that time. While the burn ban is being terminated, dry conditions may continue to persist in portions of the county. Individuals conducting outdoor burning are strongly encouraged to exercise appropriate caution, adhere to all applicable regulations, and follow established safe burning practices. Burning of large debris piles will continue to be postponed until the area has received significant wetting rainfall.

Tonight’s drill gave our crews the opportunity to participate in a FLAG (Flammable Liquids and Gas) class, providing valuable hands-on training in the hazards and tactics associated with fires involving flammable liquids and gases.

Training for these types of incidents is especially important because flammable liquids and gases can create rapidly changing and extremely hazardous fire conditions. Understanding fire behavior, product characteristics, safe positioning, hose line operations, extinguishment techniques, and the potential for re-ignition helps our firefighters operate more safely and effectively when faced with these incidents.

A huge thank you to Garibaldi Fire & Rescue for hosting the training and working alongside our crews, and to DPSST for providing this excellent training opportunity. We appreciate the continued partnerships that allow local fire agencies to train together and strengthen our ability to protect our communities.
