Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

The members of the Rockaway Township Fire Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve our nation. This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

March 2026 Call Volume Recap

The Rockaway Township Fire Department responded to a total of 55 calls for service during the month of March.

March Call Breakdown:
• Activated Fire Alarms – 22
• Carbon Monoxide Alarms – 4
• Motor Vehicle Accidents – 13
• Rescues – 3
• Hazardous Conditions – 3
• Fires – 4
• Good Intent Calls – 5

This brings the department’s year-to-date total to 155 calls for service (including April calls).

April 1st, 2026

Busy start to the 2nd quarter for our members.

Just after midnight, crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Wenonah Ave in White Meadow Lake. Around 1:30 AM, units were dispatched to an activated fire alarm on Fernwood Rd, also in White Meadow Lake.

Then, just before the morning rush around 6:45 AM, multiple calls began coming in:
• A motor vehicle accident on Route 80 in the area of MM 36
• An activated fire alarm on Green Pond Rd in the Hibernia section
• A vehicle fire on Route 80

All of this occurred before 8:00 AM.

We’ll see what the rest of the day brings.

Today members of our department had a great time marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with Truck 2 — and a leprechaun who somehow managed to sneak onto the truck with us! 🍀🚒

It was great seeing so many friendly faces out along the parade route. We had a fantastic time celebrating with the community and hope everyone who came out to enjoy the day had as much fun as we did!

We’re still not sure where the leprechaun came from… but we’re pretty sure he’s still looking for his pot of gold! 🌈🍀

☘️🚒 **Parade Day is Almost Here!** 🚒☘️

The Rockaway Township Fire Department is excited to once again participate in the Morristown St. Patrick’s Day Parade! 🇮🇪

Join us in Morristown this Saturday as we celebrate one of the area’s best traditions filled with community pride, Irish spirit, and plenty of green!

If you’re attending the parade, be sure to keep an eye out for our members as we march through town. We hope to see everyone there!

This brings the department’s year-to-date total to 101 calls for service.

This past Friday, members from Companies 1, 3, and 5, along with our friends from Rockaway Borough Fire Department, attended the annual Firefighter Ski Race at Mountain Creek in Vernon. A great day was had by all, filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs on the mountain.
