Rockaway Township Fire Department consists of five companies and an EMS Division:

Co 2 - Mount Hope Fire Company
Co 3 - Marcella Fire Company
Co 4 - Birchwood Fire Company
Co 5 - White Meadow Lake Fire Company
EMS: Comprised of members from each Fire Company

🇺🇸 **Happy 250th Birthday, America!** 🇺🇸

Today, the Rockaway Township Fire Department proudly joins our community in celebrating **250 years of American independence**.

As we honor the courage, sacrifice, and spirit that built our nation, we also thank all those who continue to serve and protect our communities each day. We are proud to stand alongside our residents in celebrating this historic milestone.

As you enjoy today's festivities, please remember to celebrate safely:

🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals. Consumer fireworks can cause serious injuries and fires.
🔥 Keep grills a safe distance from homes, decks, and anything that can burn.
🚗 Never drink and drive. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver.
🚒 Keep fire hydrants clear and accessible, and call 911 immediately in the event of an emergency.

Joint Company Drill – 6/24/2026

Wednesday evening, members of Companies 2, 4, and 5 conducted a joint training drill at the former Toys “R” Us building at the mall.

The evening’s training focused on multiple disciplines. Members practiced wide-area search techniques, improving their ability to efficiently locate victims in large commercial occupancies. At the same time, other members trained with Truck 2, performing vertical ventilation operations and sharpening their skills using roof saws to simulate real-world roof ventilation techniques.

Training together on these scenarios strengthens coordination between companies and ensures our members remain prepared to respond safely and effectively to emergencies throughout Rockaway Township.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

The members of the Rockaway Township Fire Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve our nation. This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who gave their lives protecting the freedoms we enjoy every day.

March 2026 Call Volume Recap

The Rockaway Township Fire Department responded to a total of 55 calls for service during the month of March.

March Call Breakdown:
• Activated Fire Alarms – 22
• Carbon Monoxide Alarms – 4
• Motor Vehicle Accidents – 13
• Rescues – 3
• Hazardous Conditions – 3
• Fires – 4
• Good Intent Calls – 5

This brings the department’s year-to-date total to 155 calls for service (including April calls).

April 1st, 2026

Busy start to the 2nd quarter for our members.

Just after midnight, crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Wenonah Ave in White Meadow Lake. Around 1:30 AM, units were dispatched to an activated fire alarm on Fernwood Rd, also in White Meadow Lake.

Then, just before the morning rush around 6:45 AM, multiple calls began coming in:
• A motor vehicle accident on Route 80 in the area of MM 36
• An activated fire alarm on Green Pond Rd in the Hibernia section
• A vehicle fire on Route 80

All of this occurred before 8:00 AM.

We’ll see what the rest of the day brings.
