Established in 1897 as a 100% volunteer organization, the Rockaway Boro Fire Dept continues its mission to protect the Boro of Rockaway through selfless work, sacrifice and training while supporting neighboring towns.

🔥Car Fire🔥

🔥On Thursday March 19th, at approx 8pm, Rockaway Borough Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire in the median coming down from the Route 80 Eastbound ramp.

🔥Upon Engine 412 arrival, the engine compartment was fully involved. Members on 412 deployed the front bumper line to extinguisher the flames. In addition, members cut open the trunk to confirm there was no extension.

🔥Engine 411 arrived 2nd due, carrying additional manpower to assist with scene lighting.

🔥All units cleared at approximately 830pm

🔥No civilian or FD injuries reported. Great work done by all!

❄️They are predicting 8-12 inches of snow with locally higher amounts!

❄️While you are out shoveling, sledding or playing in a snowball fight, please check that the hydrants on or near your property are clear and accessible for the fire department! Every second counts when there is an emergency! BE A HYDRANT HERO!!
