Lilyfest

Lilyfest Experience the great outdoors with flowers, art and music in the Hocking Hills! Free! LilyFest is a FREE event but donations are GREATLY appreciated.

Held every year the second full weekend in July, Lilyfest’s history dates back to 1991 when Bobbi and Bruce Bishop hosted the first event at their home. Bruce Bishop’s lily gardens were showcased and 5 artists displayed and marketed their works. It’s grown to showcase 60+ artists, live music, food, and now host 5,000 visitors each year!

Yesterday, we caught the first glimpse. Today, it has grown.

Jack Pine’s glass installation at Bishop Educational Gardens is taller, brighter, and even more mysterious — rising from the water like reeds, flames, petals, or something from another world.

The piece brings to mind the spirit of glass artists who push the medium beyond perfection and into movement, color, risk, and organic form. Like Chihuly’s embrace of scale, asymmetry, and experimentation, this work feels alive in the landscape — reflecting, shifting, and changing with the pond around it.

Is there more to come?
We don’t know.

That’s part of the magic.

Come see it for yourself at Lilyfest and tell us:

What does it look like to you?

Something colorful, creative, and a little wild is taking shape in the Lilyfest pond this weekend, and yes, that’s new artwork by the wonderfully eclectic Jack Pine.

The piece is still in progress, but we couldn’t resist giving you a preview. Jack Pine is known for vibrant, hand-blown glass creations that blend bold color, shimmer, and natural inspiration, and makes his work a perfect fit for the magic of Bishop Educational Gardens.

Come see this pond installation as it comes to life at Lilyfest, and make a full art-filled day of it by visiting Jack Pine Studio, right down the road from the festival.

Art in the gardens. Art in the ponds. Creativity is everywhere.

Here’s a Behind the Scenes Snapshot of Lilyfest 2026: It takes hundreds of hours to w**d, cut back invasive species, and mulch Bishop Education Gardens to prepare for the annual festival. This morning a handful of volunteers tackled removal of Wisteria and other invasives along the garden paths and in between. While beautiful, Wisteria enjoys wrapping around trees and slowly smothers them. We can’t have that at Lilyfest, so off to the vegetation pile it went. Here, Bishop Board President Katie Freece and Bishop Education Coordinator Rebecca Miller pause for a short break before hauling off a mound of vegetation. Work will continue up until the festival start date of July 10!
