In an effort to raise money for child cancer research, the Rockdale Police Department is starting a “Beard it up/Color for the Cure” fund raiser to run from November 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021. To participate, RPD members will be required to donate $50 for November, $75 for December and $100 for January. In return, male employees will be allowed to grow out full, well-groomed facial beards, and women employees will be allowed to wear any desired fingernail and/or hair color. RPD employees must donate the required amount for the month of participation.

I believe this is a good way to raise some money for children who badly need it and for our law enforcement family to have a little fun at the same time.

I challenge Chief Ward Roddam and our brothers at the Rockdale Fire Department to join us in this effort.

I would also like to invite members of our great community, if you are financially able, to make a donation to this worthy cause. 100% of all donations go directly to pediatric cancer research.

This female German Shepherd was last seen approximately 30 minutes ago at the intersection of PostOak Rd and Murray Ave. This dog was very nervous and would not allow Officers near it. If you know the owners please notify them or Rockdale PD at 512-446-3436

ATTENTION: Future Intersection closure!

Starting JUNE 24, for approximately 2 weeks, the intersection of Meadow Drive and Murray Ave will be closed to thru traffic.
Thank you for using alternate routes while the city contractor repairs the road and fixes drainage.
Starting about July 1, repairs will begin at the intersection of Yokley Road and Rockdale Road.

You may have heard of Lock-Take-Hide as a way to prevent car burglary. If you must leave a firearm in your vehicle, locking the car and hiding the gun are not enough. Secure the firearm using a gun lock or safe to keep it out of the hands of criminals.

Today is move day for Rockdale PD! 9-1-1 will be transferred to Cameron PD. Text to 9-1-1 services will NOT be available at this time. All Officers are still able to respond to all calls for assistance. Again, Cameron PD will be answering all 9-1-1 calls for Rockdale today.

It is the policy of the Rockdale Animal Control under the supervision of Chief Thomas Harris to operate the city pound in compliance with state law. We are required to house unrelated dogs in separate kennels. By unrelated they mean dogs who come from separate locations/residences who are not accustomed to each other. We have a total of 12 cages for large dogs and 9 cages for small dogs so when we reach this capacity we are full and to be in compliance we cannot house more. In order to accommodate animals which we must pick up in emergencies we have to maintain empty kennels. These animals are often picked up at night or weekends by police officers when animal control is not working.

For the safety of the animals and police officers we will only house 10 large dogs and 7 small dogs. When we exceed this capacity we will notify PAWS and they can pick up the excess animals for adoption. If PAWS is unable to take the excess the least adoptable who have been in the kennel for more than 72 hours may be euthanized. It is our hope that we don’t have to euthanize any animals and will work with PAWS and any reputable organization to save them but we must stay in compliance with the law.

Appears to only be affecting locations North of Highway 79 / Cameron Ave. & from Scarbrough St. to Allday St. ONCOR advised the outage was caused by several trees falling on power lines a crew is enroute to cut down the trees and restore the power lines. ONCOR can only give estimated restoral time of 9 P.M.

The incident at McDonalds with an Officer being refused service has been resolved. They dealt with the situation swiftly and accordingly. Please refrain from any negative posts, comments, or calls towards McDonalds due to this situation. They support and will continue to support all Law Enforcement. On 5-6-16 this woman used multiple peoples credit card information in the Rockdale Walmart to purchase gift cards totaling over $500. If anyone has information on who this woman is please contact the Rockdale Police Department at 512-446-3436.

On 21 May 2016 the two men pictured swiped multiple credit cards at the self-checkouts in the Wal-Mart in Rockdale, TX. It is believed that the two men were utilizing 'cloned' cards with multiple person's information on them. The individuals bought numerous gift cards and other miscellaneous items. The same two men did the same thing at the Wal-Mart in Taylor, TX on the same day. Anyone with knowedge of the identity of the two men or information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Rockdale Police Department at 512-446-3436.
