Rockdale Municipal Development District

Rockdale Municipal Development District It is the Mission of the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) to aid the City of Rockdale and any interested private or public entity in making the community a better place to live, work, and do business.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was created by voters in May, 2010 and began levying a 1/2 percent sales tax starting October 1, 2010 on all items in the district that are subject to the general sales tax. The MDD jurisdiction includes the City of Rockdale and its extra-territorial jurisdiction (that area that extends outward from the city limits to one mile).

Mission: It is the Mission of the Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) to aid the City of Rockdale and any interested private or public entity in making the community a better place to live, work, and do business. In so doing, the MDD may help develop and finance any permissible project as defined by Chapter 377 of the Texas Local Government Code and that benefits, strengthens and diversifies the economic base of Rockdale.

GOVERNOR ABBOTT ANNOUNCES PHASE III TO OPEN TEXAS

EFFECTIVE JUNE 3:

All businesses currently operating at 25% capacity can expand their occupancy to 50% with certain exceptions.

Bars and similar establishments may increase their capacity to 50% as long as patrons are seated.

Amusement parks and carnivals in counties with less than 1,000 confirmed positive cases may open at 50% capacity.

Restaurants may expand their maximum table size from 6 to 10 persons.

EFFECTIVE JUNE 12:

Restaurants may expand their occupancy levels to 75%.

Counties with 10 or less active COVID-19 cases may expand their occupancy limits to 75%. Counties that fit this category but have not previously filed an attestation with DSHS will need to do so.

EFFECTIVE JUNE 19:

Amusement parks and carnivals in counties with more than 1,000 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 may open at 50% capacity.

ADDITIONAL OPENINGS:

Special provisions have been made for outdoor gatherings, such as Fourth of July celebrations, but it is imperative that local officials and public health officials collaborate on safe standards. These provisions are included in the Governor's Executive Order and are also available on the Open Texas webpage.

The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program is a new program intended to provide financial aid to farmers and ranchers adversely affected by the virus. Farmers and Ranchers have been adversely affected by the virus due to falling crop and/or livestock prices. Governor's Strike Force to Open Texas

Governor Abbott said the state is ready for entering into the next phase of opening up businesses.

Effective May 18, daycares, massage, personal-care and beauty-care businesses can open. This order includes tattoos.

Restaurants can open to 50 percent capacity and bars can now open at 25 percent, starting Friday. Summer school can return on June 1.

On May 31, youth camp and professional sports without fans can resume as well.

Professional basketball, baseball, car racing, football, golf, softball, and tennis leagues may apply to the Department of State Health Services for approval to hold professional sporting events in Texas. These events may take place on or after May 31, 2020

One of the Minimum Standard Health Protocols set out for reopening a restaurant is that you must “Use disposable menus (new for each patron)”

We realize that all small businesses may not have a scanner and printer at their establishment. The MDD Staff is ready and willing to pick up one of your menus, make copies, and deliver them back to your restaurant, FREE of charge. You can also drop your menu off in the MDD mailbox located at 134 N. Main St. Rockdale, TX 76567.
