Lisa's Little Rescue

Lisa's Little Rescue We are a licensed 501c3 wildlife rescue specializing in mammals serving Winnebago, Ogle, and Boone counties. We receive no federal, state or local funding.
(6)

Also founding member of Rockford Regional Wildlife Coalition and the Animal Rescue Expo. We are a 501c3 that believes that all wild animals deserve to live freely in the natural world whenever possible, and to be protected from unnecessary death and suffering. As human conflict and extreme weather intertwines with the natural world, wild animals often become orphaned or injured and need our help.

We work tirelessly to rehabilitate orphaned, injured and sick wild animals with an emphasis on mammals of Winnebago County. The animals we treat receive food, medicine, shelter, and whatever else is needed to ensure a successful return to the wild. We educate to promote peaceful coexistence to protect animals and humans alike from unnecessary conflict and help train the next generation of wildlife care givers. We are ran entirely by volunteers and all supplies, food and vet care is supported by private donations.

We took in NINE more baby opies yesterday. These seven were picked up by WCAS off a deceased mom and our neighbors found two babies in their garage. So, we have over 40 right now. Yikes.

A huge commendation is in order for Autumn Weith, a devoted wildlife rehabilitator, who has demonstrated remarkable dedication by responding to two calls from WCAS and the police department in two days. The calls concerned deceased opossums with pouches containing live young, which Autumn Weith promptly attended to, traveling from outside Rockford to do so. Given the challenges of providing emergency response, particularly in wildlife rehabilitation, her actions are truly noteworthy. We encourage you to follow her page and express appreciation for her outstanding work, which has resulted in the rescue of over 20 opossums within a 48-hour period. Autumn Weith. Thank.you for actually answering your phone when many rescues dont.
