• Endorses candidates or a particular stance on an active ballot measure or specific legislation

We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away. We trust in the maturity of our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely. The City is not responsible for settling disagreements with users, nor will a comment be removed solely at the request of a user. Repeated violations of the above policy may cause the author to be permanently blocked from the City of Rockford’s social media platforms. Our goal is to share and exchange information with those interested in topics relating to the City of Rockford community and our policy is to accept the majority of comments made to our page. 🎓 Heading to college this fall? Don’t forget to plan for voting!

If you’ll be away at college during the November election, you can request an absentee ballot before you leave.

🗳️ Apply online: https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/

You can also contact the City Clerk’s Office, and we can mail an absentee ballot application to you.

📬 Going to college out of town? Be sure to request that your ballot be mailed to your temporary address, such as your dorm or apartment, to help avoid delays.

📅 Absentee ballots are expected to be mailed on or around September 25, 2026.

Water main maintenance and improvements are underway in the Squires Street area and are expected to continue through approximately August 27, depending on weather and construction progress.

📍 Current traffic impacts include:
• Excavation at the Squires Street/Bridge Street intersection.
• Closure of the curve between the Riverfront Parking Lot and Courtland Street.

📍 Beginning August 12
• Main Street will close near the Riverfront Parking Lot entrance.
• A signed detour will direct traffic via Lewis Street, Northland Drive, and Courtland Street.

Throughout construction, drivers, pedestrians, businesses, and downtown visitors should expect temporary traffic impacts in the Squires Street area. Please use caution, follow posted detours, and watch for construction crews.

Thank you for your patience as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.

Please be aware that Spring Street near the dam will be closed on Thursday due to construction.

Join us TONIGHT for National Night Out from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM!

📍 New Location: Rams Stadium
Located off Lewis Street, between Sigsbee Street and Norwood Street.

Due to ongoing construction, this year's event will be held at Rams Stadium—but you can still expect the same great community celebration!

🚁 Don't miss the highlight of the evening! The Michigan State Police helicopter will make a special landing during the event!

Come meet your local first responders from several area agencies, check out police vehicles and fire trucks, and connect with the many community organizations that will be joining us. It's a fun evening for the whole family and a great opportunity to celebrate the strong partnerships that make our community such a wonderful place to live.
