If you are thinking about a medical career check this out!!

The EMDP2 is a two year undergraduate education program consists of intensive coursework, preparation, and mentoring to prepare students to apply to medical school.
-
Individuals selected for the EMDP2 program will remain on active duty while completing coursework and receive , allowances, , and privileges of current paygrade. All school expenses (e.g. books, tuition, labs, etc.) will be by USU for the entire length of the course.

Upon completion of the program, successful students will be competitive for acceptance to U.S. medical schools.

On this day in 2010, Lance Corporal Kyle Carpenter was manning a rooftop security position with a fellow Marine in the Marjah District of Afghanistan when the enemy began to launch gr***des at their position. When a gr***de landed within their sandbagged position, Carpenter moved toward the gr***de and absorbed the blast with his body, which severely wounded him but saved the life of his fellow Marine. ⁠

For his courageous actions, he would receive the Medal of Honor. Carpenter’s citation states, “By his undaunted courage, bold fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of almost certain death, Lance Corporal Carpenter reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.” ⁠

Veterans Day occurs on Nov. 11 every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

In 1968, the Uniform Holidays Bill was passed by Congress, which moved the celebration of Veterans Day to the fourth Monday in October. The law went into effect in 1971, but in 1975 President Gerald Ford returned Veterans Day to Nov. 11, due to the important historical significance of the date.
