The legacy of D-Day is not measured only in history books. It lives on through the generations of veterans who followed and through the communities that continue to support them.

Today, WMVC honors the Americans who landed in Normandy 82 years ago and recognizes the lasting impact of their courage, sacrifice, and service.

WMVC was proud to partner with Union Bank of Michigan during yesterday's Operation United volunteer event hosted by Heart of West Michigan United Way. Together, we had the privilege of supporting a local Air Force veteran by helping refresh and improve the exterior of their home through yard work, mulching, and outdoor staining projects.

Events like this are a reminder that supporting veterans can take many forms, and sometimes the most meaningful impact comes through simple acts of service. We’re grateful to stand alongside community partners like United Way and Union Bank of Michigan who are committed to giving back and honoring those who have served.

We invite you to join us tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21st from 10:00am-12:00pm for our Community Partners Meeting (virtual and in-person options available) at North Kent Connect in Rockford, MI.

We will hear from North Kent Connect and the plethora of vital services they are offering to Northern Kent County residents. The VA will inform us on their transportation program and their new shuttle service options. We, the WMVC, will share our transportation program that is extended to veterans, service members, spouses, caregivers and dependents to not only medical appointments but to grocery stores, community engagements, and others.

We hope to hear from you all tomorrow regarding the needs that you see in the space you occupy and how we can collaboratively help our shared community of veterans and those in their circles.
