We are proud to share that 10 Rockford University students and 6 faculty members are currently in Poland to present at the Jane Addams Conference in Warsaw. What an incredible opportunity for RU students to learn, present, and grow on an international stage!
Yesterday, September 21st, the group explored Krakow. One of the RU students, Leslie Rosas sent us this recap of their first day. "In Krakow, we met with an amazing travel guide Monika. While we were there, we visited medieval Krakow, where we saw the old churches, the castle, and heard the legends about the dragons. One thing that really stood out to us was that the University of Krakow was funded by a Queen who was crowned as a King. The University, being one of the oldest in the world, is still in current session to this day!
The locals were kind and welcoming. To our surprise, in the Polish Schools, they teach the children 2 languages, one being English; therefore, we have no issues making our way around. We finished the day touring the town center, where there are many different shops and local food stops. "
Today, the group continues its journey with a powerful visit to Auschwitz.
