We so appreciate being invited to be one of the speakers at the Lafayette Apartments Grand Opening! A restored 1927 landmark, the Lafayette will now provide 54 affordable homes in downtown Rockford. WCHA's small role is providing 6 Housing Choice Vouchers and 6 state funded Housing Vouchers for this exciting project.

There were so many great partners that made this possible including; Gorman & Company, Zion Development, Illinois Housing Development Authority, and the City of Rockford Government. And we have to strongly thank Ron Clewer, CEO of PLATform and Zion Development, who brings this all together! And it was fun to meet Lisa Jones, the former Lafayette owner who took such good care of this Rockford treasure for many years (Lisa is holding the giant scissors).

Thank you, Ron Clewer, for sending over some of the beautifully decorated Cake One Five cupcakes. I passed them along to our Housing Choice Voucher team of Kristin, Stephanie, Radmilla and Alyssa. And there was still one for Carl with our maintenance department. Carl happened to be in the right place at the right time for a cupcake.
