On International Day of Charity, we’re celebrating what happens when a community chooses to give. A gift to United Way Rock River Valley helps put books into children’s hands, supports literacy programs in classrooms and doctors’ offices, connects neighbors with critical resources through 211, and so much more. A strong week starts with showing up. 📚 To celebrate Monday attendance at Constance Lane Elementary School , Mr. Dan from United Way, State Representative Dave Vella, and United Way board member Dave Costello visited classrooms for special storytimes and book donations.

Being in school on Monday helps students start the week connected, engaged and ready to learn. We’re proud to help make showing up something worth celebrating! 💙

A big thank you to the Woodward, Inc. volunteers who spent the afternoon giving back! 💙

Together, they packed 60 hygiene kits for Brooke Road UMC and even stayed to help sticker magazines for our upcoming fall Trunk or Treat events. We’re grateful for community partners who are always willing to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed. 🙌

We’re grateful to see the incredible outpouring of love for Dolly and the legacy she created through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. And we’re seeing that response right here at home. More than 100 Winnebago County children are currently waiting to join our local program.

Dolly’s legacy of putting books into the hands of children will continue. 💙 Dolly Parton's Imagination Library was built to endure, and families can be assured that the program will continue. United Way Rock River Valley remains committed to bringing Dolly’s books to children throughout Winnebago County, just as we have before.

We mourn the loss of an extraordinary champion for early literacy, but we can think of no better way to honor Dolly than to continue the work she started: helping children discover a lifelong love of reading. The books will keep coming. And Dolly’s legacy will keep growing, one child at a time.

We are incredibly saddened at the loss of the iconic Dolly Parton and will be forever grateful for her contribution to literacy through the development of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. She saw a need and stepped into the gap to fill it. We are proud to support the program that bares her name. Rest in peace Dolly, we will honor you the only way we know how, to continue to help children read. You are our inspiration and role model.
