We have received a lot of calls regarding the start of early voting this year. Absentee by Mail ballots will be available to send out on Friday, September 6, but Early Voting does not begin until Thursday, October 17.

We have received numerous calls/visits about the people at Walmart that are harassing people to register to vote. These people ARE NOT affiliated with the Richmond County Board of Elections.

These people are giving out false information about voter registration and are harassing shoppers. This group is also urging registered voters to re-register to vote just to be “sure” of their registration. We have been in contact with Walmart to let them know about the issue. If you encounter these people in Walmart, I urge you to report it.

PSA: There is some misinformation circulating in Richmond county about voter registration. If you are already registered to vote and have no changes to make, you DO NOT need to re-register to vote. We have had numerous calls from concerned voters asking about this as well as many duplicate registrations come in without changes.

Please take note of these important dates. Early Voting will take place at the Richmond County Cooperative Extension. If you do not vote early, you must visit the polling place in your precinct. Election Day voting is NOT AVAILABLE at the cooperative extension.

County Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Offices will re-open at 8am on Friday, July 5.
