Celebrate snakes on World Snake Day! Beautiful and beneficial creatures.

On World Snake Day, we're celebrating the incredible diversity of North Carolina's native snakes.

Whether they're controlling rodent populations or helping maintain healthy ecosystems, snakes play an important role. However, some of these species face a variety of threats and have been designated as Species of Greatest Conservation Need.

Join us in celebrating World Snake Day today by spreading awareness of their importance in our state and beyond, and comment below the most interesting snake you've seen!👇

Richmond County 4-H still has a few slots available for the NC State Dairy and Museum tour on July 28th! Youth 9 years and older interested in participating must be enrolled as a 4-H member (you can enroll at v2.4honline.com). 🌱 Seed Library Spotlight: 𝐕𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐝 🌱

This beautiful heirloom collard green features mottled leaves. As the weather turns cooler, the deep green leaves become splashed with light green, creamy white, or yellowish veins. They have the same broad, flat, oval shape as traditional collards, but with a pop of color!

Growing Tips:
• Start seeds mid-July through August for a fall crop.
• For an extended harvest, strip the leaves from the outside of the plant. Leave the growing terminal bud alone, and it will keep producing for future harvests.

How to get yours:
Seeds are available while supplies last. Stop by and grab a packet!
