Working in the workforce development space, Vondia Caple the WIOA Program Coordinator at Scotland County Schools is focused on preparing students for good-paying, skilled careers and she believes AWS provides a meaningful pathway to get there.

A wonderful program from Richmond Community College! If you are going to be attending RichmondCC this fall semester, they are able to offer you child care assistance through the N.C. Community College Child Care Grant program!

If you are going to be attending RichmondCC this fall semester, we are able to offer you child care assistance through the N.C. Community College Child Care Grant program. The funds are limited and distributed on a "first come, first serve" basis. Children must be under the age of 7 to be considered for child care assistance. You will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year at FAFSA.gov. You must also submit a completed Child Care Application packet to the Financial Aid Office. Visit: https://richmondcc.edu/child-care-grant-program

Packets are also available in the Financial Aid Office on the Hamlet Campus and the Scotland County Campus.

Lifelong resident and local attorney Bill Webb has seen his community transform for decades. He’s grateful local leaders invested in the infrastructure that helped bring Amazon to the area. “I personally think that it’s a game changer. I do see the coming of Amazon as bringing other people into the community, but I would like to see us grow and prosper and Amazon I think will be the linchpin for that.”

Wendy Wallace is the Career & Technical Education Director of Richmond County Schools. She says a significant population isn't sure about their post-graduation plans, but Amazon's investment has created more options for students. "This opportunity is going to provide a lot of career opportunities for students that may not have it figured out yet," explains Wallace. "It will help build the future of Richmond County."
