Art Workshop for Children and Teens: Painting Fruit on Fabric

Hope Angier will follow-up her reading with a workshop entitled “Painting Fruit on Fabric”. Participants will have an opportunity to learn a few basic, traditional, decorative painting techniques. They will create three pieces of fruit by learning how to fit the elements of the design together like a puzzle using a layering technique. After a brief practice session, each student will paint their own “finished” original Angier design on fabric.

Graphic Shakespeare: A Workshop for Teens

This free workshop is suitable for teens 8th grade and up. Illustrate a poem and completely alter its meaning! In this 1-hour workshop, teenagers will make their own graphic/comic adaptations of a Shakespeare sonnet, experimenting with creative ways to illustrate, update, alter, undermine or even challenge Shakespeare’s own words.

Chelsea Avirett of Spyglass Tutoring will lead the workshop. Chelsea has a Ph.D. in medieval English literature and has taught literature and writing classes to middle school, high school, and college students.

Riddle #4: There was this magician who was playing some smart tricks across the street. A boy went up to him and the man said, "I will just touch your forehead and write your actual name on this yellow paper. If I am wrong, then I will give you some of my magic stuffs, otherwise you have to give me $10." The boy agreed, for he thought that no matter what name he writes down, he will deny it. But, it was the boy who lost the bet. How is this possible?

Riddle #2: This is a most unusual paragraph. How quickly can you find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so ordinary you would think that nothing was wrong with it, and in fact, nothing is wrong with it. It is unusual though. Why? Study it, think about it, and you may find out. Try to do it without coaching. If you work at it for a bit, it will dawn on you. So jump to it and try your skill at figuring it out. Good luck and don't blow your cool.
