The Gathering Inn

The Gathering Inn We meet 500+ daily where they are, inspire hope + walk alongside on their journey to stable housing. Please visit our website for answers.

The Gathering Inn's mission is to meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their journey to sustainable housing. In its 19th year of operation, TGI offers a complete continuum of housing and supportive services for homeless individuals: emergency housing; medical respite care; permanent supportive housing; external housing placement; comprehensive support services; educ

ation and training; and aftercare follow-up. Not only does The Gathering Inn exist to fulfill the original mission and vision of our founders, but it also builds on that foundation by expanding services that address barriers to housing. The lives of TGI guests are transformed by inspiring self-sufficiency and inviting them to achieve sustainable housing. At The Gathering Inn, we are committed to maintaining a space that is consistent with kindness, dignity, and respect for all especially the individuals we serve. We understand there are many questions regarding our Medical Respite Program. For questions not yet addressed there, we are collecting them and will post responses in an FAQ before the program opens. Comments that are unkind, disrespectful, or not aligned with our mission will be removed. Thank you for helping us keep this a space that reaches out and lifts up.

🌟 **From the Front Seat to Finding Her Voice**

Still healing from a broken ankle and without a safe place to stay, Cindy spent months moving between temporary arrangements before finding herself in the front seat of her car.

That was when she called 211.

“I need more than what I can give myself right now,” she remembers realizing.

That call led Cindy to The Gathering Inn. The transition was not easy, but being heard helped her begin moving forward.

“I knew I was safe because somebody listened,” Cindy shared. “They had thoughtful responses and treated me with dignity and respect.”

With safety and support beneath her, Cindy updated her résumé, secured an interview two days later, and started a new job within the week.

Something deeper changed, too.

“It used to be about me,” she said. “Now it’s about us.”

Today, Cindy is employed, preparing to move into a home of her own, and becoming a voice for others navigating homelessness.

Her message to someone entering The Gathering Inn for the first time is simple:

“Everyone has the ability and capability for success with the support of their community and the services available.”

Cindy found more than a path forward. She found her voice. 💙

🍽️ Good food brings people together, and our community partners make every meal even more meaningful!

We are grateful to our friends at CommonSpirit for serving an incredible BBQ lunch to guests at our Roseville Road, North Village Campus.

Their team arrived ready to serve, connect, and create a welcoming experience around the table. More than providing a delicious meal, they shared their time and reminded our guests that they are valued, supported, and surrounded by a community that cares.

Partnerships like this help us meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their path to sustainable housing.

Thank you, CommonSpirit, for bringing such generosity and heart to our guests. We are so grateful to have you as part of The Gathering Inn community! 💙

This beautiful garden harvest is more than a bounty. It is a reminder of what can grow when something is given the right environment, consistent care, and time.

Guests often arrive at Medical Respite during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Many are recovering from illness or injury while also navigating circumstances that have disrupted their sense of safety, stability, and hope.

Our goal is to create an environment where every guest feels safe, valued, respected, and supported as they heal and begin again. Through compassionate care and meaningful relationships, guests can rebuild confidence, recognize their strengths, and take steps toward what comes next.

Like the seeds in our garden, growth does not happen all at once. It takes patience, nurturing, and the belief that something new is possible.

Today’s harvest is a beautiful reflection of that journey. With the right support, healing takes root, hope grows, and new possibilities begin to bloom. 💚

Ready for What’s Next

Terrance has a new job and another important milestone behind him as he continues working toward permanent housing!

Getting there started with something many of us take for granted: having the right documents. Without identification and other vital paperwork, opportunities for employment and housing can quickly become out of reach.

Terrance got to work. With support from his case manager, he secured the documents he needed and soon landed a job with a local store, giving him steady income and another step forward.

Today, Terrance continues working, planning, and preparing for permanent housing. Each accomplishment has opened the door to the next, and he continues to build the future he has been working toward. 💙

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

At The Gathering Inn, we know that sometimes hope has four paws. 💛

For many of our guests, a dog is more than a pet. They are a companion, a source of comfort, a reason to keep going, and someone who depends on them each and every day.

Caring for a pet can bring purpose, routine, connection, and unconditional love — all things that can play an important role in our overall well-being. And when someone is navigating a difficult season, that bond can be especially powerful.

At our Roseville Road, North Village Campus, approximately 45 dogs are currently staying with their beloved owners. Keeping guests and their pets together means they don’t have to choose between seeking help and leaving an important member of their family behind.

It’s another way we meet people where they are, inspire hope, and walk alongside them on their path to sustainable housing. 🏡🐾

Want to show our four-legged guests a little love? We gladly accept donations of new, sealed bags of dry dog food to help care for the many pups staying with the guests who love and care for them.

Today, we’re celebrating the dogs who provide companionship, inspire hope, and remind us just how powerful unconditional love can be. 🐾💛

🍑 A Gift That Keeps Giving

Sometimes, a donation carries a story all its own.

Recently, a generous community member arrived at our South Placer program with a special gift: freshly harvested peaches from a tree planted in memory of her son. Each year, she gathers the fruit and donates it to a local organization as a loving tribute to his life.

When the peaches arrived at The Gathering Inn, our TGI Coordinator, Angela, saw an opportunity to honor the meaning behind the gift in a special way.

Together, guests and volunteers from the Young Men’s Service League rolled up their sleeves and transformed the peaches into homemade preserves. What began as a thoughtful donation became an opportunity to gather, learn, create, and connect.

There is something especially meaningful about seeing one act of love continue to grow. From a tree planted in remembrance, to peaches shared with our guests, to jars of preserves made together, this beautiful gift created something far beyond what could fit in a basket.

We are grateful to our donor for entrusting us with something so meaningful, and to Angela, our guests, and the Young Men’s Service League volunteers for helping carry that gift forward. 💙🍑

💙 Learning, Serving, and Making an Impact

When Christy, an MSN student completing her clinical practicum, chose The Gathering Inn’s Medical Respite program, she came ready to learn. Along the way, she became a meaningful part of our community.

Christy brought compassion, curiosity, and genuine care to every interaction. She shared valuable health education with our guests, took time to build connections, and brought plenty of laughter into the program.

As her practicum comes to an end, our Medical Respite team celebrated Christy with flowers and homemade cupcakes, a small reflection of the appreciation we have for everything she brought to our guests and team.

We are grateful Christy chose to learn alongside us and experience firsthand the power of compassionate, whole person care.

Congratulations, Christy! We can’t wait to see where nursing takes you next. 💐🧁

Showing Up for Others

Some people have a remarkable ability to care for others, even while carrying challenges of their own. Charity is one of them.

While managing her own health concerns and continuing to work as a caregiver, Charity has remained focused on moving forward and supporting those around her.

That compassion became especially clear when another guest experienced a medical emergency. Charity noticed something was wrong, immediately alerted team members, and stayed by his side until help arrived, offering comfort and reassurance until he was safely in the care of first responders.

Today, Charity continues working toward permanent housing while managing her health and building a more sustainable future. Through it all, she has never lost sight of the people around her.

Charity reminds us that compassion isn’t measured by what we have, but by how we choose to care for one another. 💙

A Small Gift That Makes a Big Difference

As summer temperatures climb, staying cool becomes more than a matter of comfort. It becomes a matter of health and safety.

That inspired Nancy, a parishioner at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Rocklin, to put her talents to work. She handcrafted reusable cooling neck wraps and donated them to guests at The Gathering Inn, offering a thoughtful answer to a very real need.

The response was immediate. Guests have been reaching for the wraps daily, finding relief from the heat and something more: a reminder that someone in their community was thinking of them.

Sometimes, a simple gift can say what words alone cannot: you are seen, you matter, and someone cares.

As these cooling wraps continue providing relief throughout the summer, they’ll also carry a little piece of the care that went into making each one.

Thank you, Nancy and St. Matthew Lutheran Church, for showing our guests what community care looks like. 💙
