Reporting an Injured Bird:
When calling WRC have the following information available:
*Address and where bird is located at the address (water, street, building, yard, etc.)
*Type of bird
*Visible injury or reason for report
WRC’s dispatcher will advise you on what to do/not to do until a trained rescuer arrives.
*Please do not attempt to rescue birds-of-prey, gulls, herons, egrets, or cormorants. They can inflict serious injuries. Stay calm as to not alarm the bird
Keep the bird in sight until a WRC rescuer arrives

If you have an injured or abandoned bird, place it in a secure box or animal crate. No food or water is generally best. If it's a baby bird keep it warm in the box with a towel and place the box on a heating pad set on low.

We have postponed Serene's release. We noticed her bad toe had a cut that wasn't there 3 days ago. We don't want to take any chances of an infection setting in. So, to be safe we're treating it. We'll update you when we have a new release date.

Great news!! Miss Serene the osprey that was hanging upside down from fishing line is being released this Sunday. YAY!!!
Serene was rescued May 9th. This video was taken May 19th. She had just been placed in our flight cage. At that time she was making 3 flights before getting tired. Now she can fly in circles and all the way to the top as many times as she feels like it. This girl is a survivor with such a will to live! We hope you enjoy our 9th Wing Tales. Sunday we will attempt a live video at approximately 2:30. So, stay tuned to see Serene's freedom day.

It's a beautiful day for us to show off some beautiful colors. Some of our recent rehabs.

Meet the 3 Musketeers in our 8th Wing Tales. These three Red-shoulder hawks will be with us for quite a while. They need to learn to eat on their own and fly.
The three of them eat an average of 500 grams of food each day. To feed all the raptors in rehab and our Ambassadors it costs an average of $3000.00 each month. Please consider making a donation for their care. We are 100% funded by the generosity of donors like you. Being a 501c3 your donation is tax deductible and all donations received are put 💯 towards feeding and care of our birds. We have NO paid employees. 😁
Thank you for watching our Wing Tales and for supporting Wings Rescue Center!

Miss Maggie and Max joined 3 other Great Horned Owls we brought over to ARK on Port Aransas. This is the last step before their release. They will begin live prey feeding and learn how to be the fierce predators they're meant to be in the wild. ❤️❤️
A big thank you to Amos Rehabilitation Keep - ARK at UT Marine Science Institute whenever and however needed.

Hi everyone! It's time for our #7 Wing Tales. This week we are featuring 5 adorable golden fronted woodpeckers. We've had so many interesting rescues and rehabs this week. It was hard to pick one. Hope you enjoy it. 😁

Look how tiny this baby wren is. It was found on a side walk after the last rain storm. Some how it survived.

As my husband and I drive back from Tivoli to pick up an osprey I have a rare moment to reflect on this rescue.
A young lady sent a distress message through FB messenger to us. Attached to it was a picture of an Osprey caught in fishing line. It was dangling off a weather tower platform in deep, inaccessible water. I responded and contacted our Founder Kay. From there she contacted our dispatcher Dianne. From there calls were made to contacts in Port O'Connor. Brigid a rescuer in that area then jumped in her kayak and went out to rescue the osprey. I'm in awe of the compassion shown by all the people involved to get this bird the help it needed. Now safely in our jeep we take her to WRC's raptor hospital to remove all the line that remains wrapped around her wings, legs and torso. She is one lucky lady!
We've named her Serene, after the young lady that made the call and saved this precious life.
