Aransas County Sheriff's Office The Aransas County Sheriffs Office is committed to protecting the Citizens of Aransas County

Just when you think you have seen it all something else comes along.
This last weekend in Aransas County someone posing as an FBI agent investigating a local bank contacted a local resident. The “agent” instructed our resident to pull over $20,000 from her bank, photograph it, place it in a box, and stand by while he had a "UBER driver” pick it up.
Upon hearing this report, we confirmed it was a scam. The victim provided photos that allowed us to identify the vehicles and drivers involved. The investigation tracked the drivers and money to a hotel in Portland, TX. In partnership with officials in Portland, we succeeded in recovering the funds.
Portland Police identified the suspect later in the day when he arrived at the hotel.
In this scam all has gone better than expected, but again- I want everyone to know: 1. If anyone calls you asking for your money, hang up. 2. If they mention "Bitcoin" or "Debit Cards " as forms of payment, HANG UP!!!! 3. If they threaten arrest, tell them to meet you at my office to assist with your booking.
DO NOT ALLOW anyone to make you an easy target for theft. You work too hard for your money and should not be intimidated into giving up even a small part of it.
San Patricio County last week had another victim of the ‘pay up your warrant or we are coming after you’ scam. Also, be weary of calls with threats about you missing JURY DUTY, claiming you need to pay a fine to avoid arrest.
The Aransas County Sheriff Office will never contact you by phone about a warrant; it will be a letter or officer on your front porch. The Aransas County Sheriff Office will NEVER demand payment by Bitcoin or Gift Cards; it will be Cashier's Check or Money Order, so we have paper trails.
Please help Law Enforcement protect you from scammers by hanging up or calling your local agency first to ask questions. Have a GREAT DAY and keep your money in your possession.

Sunday morning at about 6am my neighbor stepped outside his house and heard a loud growling and when he turned on his headlights discovered a coyote taking down a deer. This is in the country club. So those of you with pets outside, even though you live in the city beware. I would remind us all that we live in an area with plenty of wonderful, beautiful wildlife but we also have some that we need to watch out for.

There are always people looking to prey on others. You think the scam would stop but all they need is contact with one or two individuals who don't follow this site.
ONCE AGAIN INDIVIDUALS ARE POSING AS EMPLOYEES OF THIS OFFICE COLLECTING ON WARRANTS. We are getting reports of individuals identifying themselves as Officer Molina, Officer Brooks and Sheriff Gilliam. WOW what a group, AGAIN, I will stress the ARANSAS COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE" WILL NOT " call you on the phone to collect a debt. The Aransas County Sheriffs Office "WILL NOT" demand payment by BIT COIN. If any person calls you with this scam tell them you will meet them at my office and ask them what time they can make it. If they answer no then tell them YOUR Sheriff told them to do this,,,, and HANG UP.......
When anyone falls prey to this bunch of THIEVES it is difficult for us to help in tracing where they are actually at and getting money back is not likely to happen. These CON ARTIST are looking for easy targets, PLEASE don't be one.
Make me HAPPY and Hang Up on Them. Any debt we collect is by letter or in person and we accept Cashiers check, money order, and if we have to, cash. Preference is first two establishing documented money trail and accountability, something these individuals flee from that...... and for the record I hung up on one who called me in my office and laughed when i ask him to meet me here, accusing me of lying about who I was, told him to call me back on this number again and hung up on him. When he called back and it routed through dispatch where they answered by "Law Enforcement Communications". I told him that now we know who I am, he needs to tell me who he really is.
So believe me when I tell you to HANG UP ON THEM.

ONE MORE TIME !!!! Share this with everyone you know. The Aransas County Sheriffs Office has never and will never call your residence threatening to arrest you for some old warrant. Further more we DO NOT accept or demand payment by BITCOIN.
If you or anyone you know gets a call from anyone claiming to be collecting on a warrant from the Aransas County Sheriff's Office ,,,Hang Up . We have long established the practice of contact by mail or in person. A local citizen yesterday fell prey to this scam and tracking that payment will be next to impossible......DON'T BE THE NEXT VICTIM

To the entire Community and County, this last Monday at about 2 pm we lost an angel amongst us. Charlie Phillips who serve with the Rockport P.D. until retirement when he began service to the Aransas County Sheriff Office as a Bailiff in the courts for many years. At that time we talked him into Running for and being Elected as Constable Pct 2. We have lost an admirable Officer who never had an enemy, who served all citizens with the Greatest Dignity any officer ever has. He was a Officer with true commitment tempered with a great sense of humor and could deescalate nearly any encounter before De-escalation became a required course. While this Community is better for having his service here, we mourn his passing and will keep his sprit in how we serve the public.
Services are set for this Saturday at 10 am at First Baptist Church , Rockport Texas with internment at Fulton Cemetery.

School break is coming to a close and ALL motorist need too watch not only the school zones tomorrow but the bus routes as well. Please be on the watch for students at the schools being dropped off but remember to watch for BUSES LOADING and UNLOADING. Remember Traffic code requires all vehicles to stop behind and approaching buses with the sign out and lights flashing while loading or unloading. Its not a driver discretionary choice that you THINK its ok to proceed because the door has closed. They will wait on the bus till passengers are SAFELY seated and you better as well. The message in this post is to allow yourself extra travel time tomorrow if your route takes you by ANYTHING related to Schools opening. Remember the students mind is else where and we need to anticipate anything.
KEEP IT SAFE and MAKE IT A SAFE DAY FOR ALL
