🦋🍂One of nature’s most incredible journeys is underway!

Each year, monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles across North America, making their way toward the mountain forests of central Mexico. Even more remarkable? No single monarch completes the entire round-trip migration.

Follow the routes on our map and see how these tiny travelers cross an entire continent using instinct, sunlight, and generations of determination. Link To More Informaiton in Comments

Have you spotted any monarchs where you live? 🦋🍂

Waterways Wednesday | A Historic New Chapter for Aransas Pathways

Some milestones are measured in miles. Others are measured by the new possibilities they open.

This October, Aransas Pathways will make history on Little Bay with Pumpkin Paddle—the first sanctioned traditional kayak and canoe event for Rockport City Trailways through the American Volkssport Association.

Now officially listed on AVA’s national event calendar, this is a defining moment for the Kayaking pillar of Aransas Pathways. It affirms what our community has long known: our waterways are not simply beautiful scenery. They are living pathways for recreation, discovery, stewardship, and connection.

On Saturday, October 24, participants can choose a 1.65-mile or 2.7-mile beginner-friendly route across the calm, scenic waters of Little Bay. It is not a race. It is an invitation to experience Rockport’s waterfront at paddle pace—to notice the bay breezes, coastal wildlife, and the natural heritage that gives Aransas County its sense of place.

For Aransas Pathways, Pumpkin Paddle expands our vision of One County, Countless Adventures. It creates a new way for residents and visitors to engage with our county, strengthens our partnership with the AVA community, and gives kayaking its well-earned place beside Birding, History, and Trails.

This is more than one event on one morning. It is the launch of a new chapter—one where our waters become a gateway to meaningful outdoor experiences and responsible exploration.
