Rockport Senior Center The Center is open Monday thru Friday. We offer exercise classes, Yoga, Art, exercise machines and more. Lunch is served daily.

Medication Safety presentation at the Senior Center, 58 Broadway on Monday, March 7th at 1-2PM. Conley's Drug Store will discuss many important issues concerning medications we may take on a daily basis. He will explain the side effects typical with age, fall risks, drug interactions, over the counter drugs, herbal medicines and natural sources of vitamins in food. He will be bringing a sample of the Pill Pack, a new way to receive your prescription medications. Everyone is welcome to attend. Sadly our worn out treadmill is beyond repair. We will be purchasing a new one, but are in search of ways to fund the purchase. If you know of anyone who may be willing to make a donations to the Friends of Rockport Seniors for this purchase, ask them to contact Diane or Paula at the Senior Center 978 546 2573.

Hello Everyone,

This is just a reminder about the important CATA transportation meeting on Monday morning, September 21st at 10AM. If transportation to the senior center, doctor appointments and shopping are a concern to you, you should attend this meeting. There will be coffee, donuts and a free raffle.

Also flu shots and hearing tests are Wednesday, September 23rd from 1-3:30PM. You can walk in for the flu shots. Please bring your insurance card with you. Most people are covered by Medicare Part B. HMO Tufts Navigator does not cover the flu shot. Mass Audiology will be doing hearing test by appointment only. Call, 978-546-2573 for an appointment.

Transportation options available now
Dial-A-Ride service is door to door for anyone over the age of 60 or over 18 with a physical or mental disability. You must fill out an application before using this service (applications are available at CATA 98 281 1750 or the Senior Center) Once approved, you must schedule 24 hours in advance $2.00 each way
SeniorCare Volunteer Medical Transportation Senior Care operates a volunteer medical transportation program to adults over 60. If you can not find other transportation, call 978 281 1750. Senior Care does not guarantee the availability of volunteers. Please give 3 days notice. A donation request will be sent to you after the service.
Veterans Transportation CATA in co operation with HB Software solutions recently launched a portal CANNRide.net. Veterans and active material can use this site to search for rides. Please visit the website for more information. There are other options available to veterans, please call the Veterans office at 978-281-9740
Beverly Hospital MRI Service. This is a free taxi for self mobile people who have an MRI scheduled. Call 866-674-0466 for details

Seniors, Winter is coming along with snow and ice. On September 21 at 10AM Cape Ann Transportation Authority will be at the Rockport Senior Center. You can learn about all the various transportation services available to you here in Rockport. Learn about and sign up for Dial A Ride and ADA Services. These services will bring you to the Center, to local grocery stores and doctor/hospital appointments. If there is interest, CATA will consider a trip to the malls monthly or more often if there is interest. Questions and feedback about current services encouraged. Medicare Open Enrollment
September 14 10:30AM Lisa Rose from SHINE will be at the Center to discuss Open Enrollment and how it affects you. If you have Medicare prescription drug coverage or a Medicare Advantage Plan (HMO or PPO) you should receive a notice by the end of September outlining changes being made to your plan. IT IS IMPORTANT YOU REVIEW AND UNDERSTAND THIS. During Medicare open enrollment Oct 15-Dec 7 you can change your plan for the upcoming year. If you would like help understanding your upcoming changes, you can also contact SHINE for a free and confidential counseling session on Medicare and other related insurances.
