While we're still over a month away from tourists visiting the islands, work is already in full swing for us! Currently, that means preseason maintenance and repair on the historic infrastructure battered by winter storms. In particular, an older section of Thacher Island's boat ramp was mangled by February seas, which our corps of volunteers are now inspecting for impending rebuild. Projects like this not only maintain the historic image of the island, but allow us to keep bringing the public to this living historical site.

SAVE THE DATE!

Representing a key landmark of Massachusetts' coastal community and history, the state of our ocean is a big deal to us. That's why the TSIA is happy to be promoting this year's Massachusetts Ocean Day! This event, taking place March 31st, is a day of education and advocacy taking place at the State House. Bringing together scientists, students, and advocates from organizations like Environment Massachusetts, the New England Aquarium, and more, this is a day of speeches and discussions you won't want to miss. This year's theme is all about biodiversity, plastics, coastal resilience, and the blue economy.

Mark your calendars, for the Massachusetts State House on March 31st, with events going all day long.

Donate today so our light can shine on!

Last year, thanks to your generous support, we completed phase one of the South Tower restoration project, replacing the railings around lantern and gallery decks so the public can once again enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of our beloved lighthouse.

Now, we're setting our sights on phase two. This project, totaling two MILLION dollars, will restore the lantern room itself, preventing it's collapse into the interior of the tower. Such a collapse would be devastating to our iconic island, which is why we need YOU to donate any amount you can.

As we all go into hibernation for the Winter, it's great to have such a well made reminder of why we come back every year. Many thanks to our local 1623 Studios for the feature, and what may be the best commercial we've ever had! Well worth the 12 minutes of your time for the gorgeous footage, peek into our leadership, and testament to our mission.
