IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford: This year's IRONMAN race will be held Sunday, June 14!

We received incredible feedback on last year’s event, but we also heard that some residents were not aware of all the road closures and traffic impacts on race day. We want to help everyone plan ahead this year.

A full list of closures and traffic impacts for race weekend can be found at https://www.ironman.com/sites/default/files/2026-05/2026%2070.3%20Rockford%20Traffic%20Impact.pdf.

This link includes:
• Streets impacted throughout Rockford and Winnebago County
• What time each road will close
• What time roads are expected to reopen

Key impacts include:
• Limited downtown Rockford street closures beginning Friday, June 12
• Major race day closures on Sunday, June 14 throughout downtown, the riverfront, north Rockford, Winnebago County, and Rockton

Athletes from around the country will be competing in a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile run throughout our community. Please plan extra travel time, use detour routes when possible, and come cheer on the athletes or volunteer along the course!

Thank you for helping make IRONMAN 70.3 Rockford another great event for our community.

Congratulations to this year’s Jaimie Cox Memorial Scholarship recipients, Madeline Grady and Lauren Douglass!

The Jaimie Cox Memorial Scholarship was established by the Rockton Police Association (R.P.A.) and Caitlin Cox & Family. Jaimie was a Rockford Police Officer who lost his life on November 5, 2017 in the line of duty. Jaimie was a Hononegah Community High School graduate.

The objective of this scholarship is to honor Jaimie’s memory by awarding an individual with a similar work ethic; one who is committed to the service of others as Jaimie was.

The $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to two Hononegah Community High School seniors, interested in pursuing a career in emergency services in the following areas: Law Enforcement, Fire Sciences, Emergency Medical Technician, or Nursing.
