Check out our school district election spotlight for Rockville Centre! RVC parents, teachers, and students have been debating anti-racism recently after a lesson plan was posted on a village facebook group that some saw as promoting anti-police views. Other issues at stake in the election are COVID restrictions, the IB curriculum, sipport for the arts and sciences, cultural sensitivity and diversity, and school funding. There are 4 candidates running including incumbents Liz Dion and Kelly Barry who are aiming to keep their seats.

Today, we sit down with Kelly Peckholdt, candidate for Village of Babylon trustee on the Vote for Babylon party line. Kelly is the President of the Chamber of Commerce in Babylon, and owns Positions Dance Studio in the village. Kelly walked us through the drama that engulfed Village of Babylon politics this month as the village incumbents challenged the Vote for Babylon petition to get on the ballot. The Vote for Babylon slate will now be running a write in campaign. Julian and Deandra interview Nassau County Comptroller Jack Schnirman, a continuation of last week's conversation. Comptroller Schnirman announced last week that he will not be seeking re-election in November 2021. The open race is sure to bring a lot of candidates out of the woodworks, and hearing Schnirman's views on the issues, and the role of the comptroller can help our community make an informed choice in the elections coming up.
