🚲 Bicycle Safety at Riverside School 🚲

Today, Lt. DeLuca, Sgt. Kaplon, PO McCorvey, and PO Robinson visited Riverside School to conduct bicycle-safety presentations for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes.

Students learned important lessons about wearing properly fitted helmets, following traffic rules, remaining alert, and riding safely throughout the community.

A special thank-you to the RVC Recreation Center for working with us, setting up the bicycle-safety course, and registering the children’s bicycles. Thank you also to Natalie Gallagher for capturing and sharing the great photos from today’s event!

We appreciate everyone who helped make this a fun and educational experience for our students.

If you see this individual, do not approach, confront, or attempt to detain him. Keep a safe distance and immediately contact police. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call:

On Wednesday, we welcomed the 2nd grade classes from Hewitt Elementary to Police Headquarters for a fun and educational tour!

PO Giacchina and PO Guerrini had a great time showing the students, teachers and parents around headquarters, teaching them about police work, safety, and giving them a close look at our police vehicles and equipment.

Thank you to all of the students, teachers, parents and staff from Hewitt Elementary for visiting us today. We always enjoy building positive relationships with our community’s future leaders! 📚🚔 👮‍♂️🚓

Great day at the South Side Middle School Health & Wellness Walk.

Sgt. Bamonte and PO Nardello were proud to stand alongside RVC Coalition for Youth leader Ruthanne McCormack, helping educate students on the dangers of smoking and va**ng.

Building strong connections with our youth while providing real information is key to keeping our community safe and healthy. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success.

Today, the Rockville Centre Police Department Traffic Unit is actively participating in Operation Safe Stop NY, a statewide initiative focused on protecting students as they travel to and from school. 🚌

Drivers are reminded that it is illegal and dangerous to pass a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing. These laws are in place to keep our children safe.

🚔 So Far Today, Our Officers have issued 15 UTT's, Impounded 2 vehicles, and Made 2 Arrests for Suspended Licenses.

🚨 PUT THE PHONE AWAY OR PAY 🚨

The Rockville Centre Police Department is actively enforcing distracted driving laws as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) “Put the Phone Away or Pay” campaign.

📱 Using your phone while driving is dangerous and illegal.
💰 Violators will face fines and penalties.

Our goal is simple: keep our roads safe for everyone.

👮‍♂️ Increased patrols will be out looking for distracted drivers.

Make the safe choice:
✔ Put the phone away
✔ Stay focused on the road
✔ Arrive safely

No message is worth a life.

Community Update from Commissioner Randy Dodd

The Rockville Centre Police Department is actively monitoring international developments and remains in close communication with the Nassau County Police Department, as well as our state and federal law enforcement partners.

Out of an abundance of caution, residents may notice an increased police presence throughout the village, including additional patrols near community gathering areas and houses of worship. These measures are proactive and part of our ongoing commitment to public safety.

At this time, there is no known threat to Rockville Centre.

We remain vigilant, prepared, and dedicated to protecting the residents, businesses, and visitors of our community. If you see something suspicious, please report it immediately.
