The Indiana Sheriffs' Association announces and will be celebrating their 46th Annual Indiana Sheriff's Association Youth Leadership Camp which will be held in June 2026. There will be two camp sessions this year the first session will be held June 15-17, 2026, serving the Southern part of the state at the Indiana FFA Leadership Camp in Trafalgar, Indiana (Johnson County). The second session will be held June 22-24, 2026 serving the Northern part of the state at Pine Creek Camp in Pine Village, Indiana (Warren County).

The Indiana Sheriffs' Association Youth Leadership Camp is a camp provided by the Indiana Sheriffs' Association for boys and girl who are currently in the 7th and 8th grade of school and are interested in learning more about possible career in law enforcement. The camp provided a very meaningful experience and relationship with other campers from throughout the state and sheriff officers who serve as counselors and instructors.

Any boy or girl currently in the 7th or 8th grade of school interested in attending the camp should contact the Sheriff's Office or your school counselor for an application an additional information. Sheriff Jason Frazier announced that arrangement can possibly be made to provide the camp registration fee through a local business or civic organization for anyone interested.

On 3/28/26, at 425 a.m., Parke County Deputies attempted to stop a 2020 black Dodge Durango southbound on U.S. 41, from the town of Rockville. The driver refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.

At 434 a.m., the suspect vehicle stopped at the intersection of U.S. 41 and 4th Street, in Lyford. It was later learned that the suspect had ran out of gas. During the stop the suspect, Coby L. Moreland 31 of Carlisle, brandished a firearm. Moreland exited the vehicle threatening self harm. He remained in a nearby farm field continuing to threaten self harm for a length of time. Officers contained Moreland and attempted to negotiate his surrender.

At 518 a.m., a negotiator from the Terre Haute Police Department SRT arrived on scene to continue speaking to Moreland. At 533 a.m., Moreland surrendered and was taken into custody. Moreland was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Carrying of a Hangun. He is being held in the Parke County Jail, where his bond is set at $15,000 with no 10%.

Agencies assisting at the scene were the Rockville Police Department, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Police Department, Terre Haute Police Department and Indiana State Police.
