2025 Parke County Youth in Government Day.
The 45th annual Parke County Youth in Government Day was recently held in Parke County. Twenty-four high school seniors from Riverton Parke and Parke Heritage High Schools participated in the program. Students shadowed many local government officials and took part in a panel discussion on government and community issues.

November is designated
as the Rotary Foundation month. It was celebrated recently by the Rockville Rotary Club with a presentation by Joe Collings who is the current Rotary District 6560 community grants chairman along with being a past district governor and 52-year member of the Rockville Rotary Club.
Joe showed photos related to over 40 Rotary district grant projects undertaken for the betterment of communities in central Indiana during 2024-2025. Each project was brought forward by a Rotary Club in the local community.
He explained how Rotarians can help support both the International and District Rotary Foundations along with the Rotary Club grant application process.

An update on the development of a 5 year plan for the three town parks in Rockville was shared by the park board president Luke Waltz (on left) at a recent Rockville Rotary Club meeting held in the banquet room at the Thirty-Six Saloon in Rockville. On the right is Rotary president Charlie Dorton.
Luke explained the possibilities and renovations that can be made in the Beechwood, Busenbark and Depot parks in Rockville through grants obtainable with a comprehensive plan.
The plan will serve as a roadmap for improving the Rockville parks and facilitating government grants and private funds.

Veteran Tree Service owner Steve Ball (on left) recently spoke to the Rockville Rotary Club about his certification as an arborist along with outlining the business operations now being provided during a meeting at the Thirty-Six Saloon banquet room in Rockville. On the right is

Monti Byers (on left) was introduced as the program speaker by her son Eric (on right) at a recent Rockville Rotary Club meeting. Both are Rotarians and Edward Jones agents.
Monti shared details about her experience opening the first Edward Jones office in Rockville in 1993 and being among very few female agents with the company in the early years.
Monti also discussed the current challenges facing investors with a very uncertain economic climate. She says her office is pleased to be serving local clients and those from 20 other states.

Michael Mauntel (on left) who heads up the Terre Haute Ivy Tech programs in agriculture, precision agriculture and diesel technology was the speaker at the Rockville Rotary meeting this week. On right is the Rotary treasurer and program chair, Bonnie Hobbs.
Michael discussed each of the programs he’s responsible for at Ivy Tech. And in detail the hands on approach to learning, the career options offered and many scholarships available.

Don Donovan (on left) was the guest speaker at a recent Rockville Rotary Club meeting held in the Thirty- Six Saloon banquet room at Rockville. In the center is his wife Sharon Donovan along with current Rotary president, Charlie Dorton, Don will be retiring at the end of September after over 42 years with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and most of it as the Parke County
District Conservationist as well as in Vermillion County.
