Learn more about Gabriel’s win in the 39th District.

Gabriel Acevero on Tuesday came in second in the Democratic primary in House District 39. He would be the first openly gay man of Afro-Latino descent elected to the General Assembly if he wins in November.

Running for office is difficult. It requires tremendous personal sacrifice and courage. We want to thank all of the openly LGBTQ candidates who stepped up and mounted hard-fought campaigns.

After last night's results, it appears that Gabriel Acevero for Delegate - D39 has been elected in the Democratic primary (which is tantamount to a win in November) and will almost certainly be joining the other gay and le***an members of the Maryland General Assembly in January. Our congratulations go out to Gabriel for his win.

We will continue to grow the PAC in order to better support the election of more openly LGBTQ people to public office in Maryland because there are still too few members of our community in elected positions.

We hope you will join us in our work over the coming years.
