The Indian Health Service (IHS) has a service population of approximately 2 million from 565 different Federally recognized Tribes and 34 urban Indian communities. The IHS administers direct healthcare services through a system of 12 Area Offices and 163 IHS and Tribally managed service units. Within this system there are 5 Federally operated and 5 Tribally operated Youth Regional Treatment Center
