On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the Calhoun County Firefighters Association held its quarterly meeting, bringing together members of our local fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies for an evening of training and collaboration.

We were pleased to welcome Fort Dodge Firefighters Local 622 – Region V Hazardous Materials Response Team for the evening’s training session. Region V provided valuable instruction on anhydrous ammonia emergencies, including response considerations, safety practices, and techniques for fire and EMS personnel operating in these potentially hazardous environments.

A special thank you goes to the Manson Volunteer Fire Department for the use of their station and for providing the delicious meal. To our volunteer firefighters, EMS providers, and law enforcement officers who continue to give their time, attend training, and prepare themselves to respond when their communities need them most we say thank you! The dedication of our local responders is a critical part of keeping Calhoun County safe.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Fort Dodge Fire Rescue – Region V Hazmat for taking the time to come to Calhoun County and provide specialized training to our responders. Training alongside regional partners strengthens our capabilities and helps ensure that, when an emergency occurs, our agencies are better prepared to work together.
