Tri-County Family Care Center

Tri-County Family Care Center Mission Statement:
A "Single point of entry" to help people with general and emergency needs. It is not a crisis center for life threatening situations.

We are a center where people with general and emergency needs can immediately find resources that are available in the surrounding areas. Tri-County Family Care Center was established by Sarah Dillon, Executive Director on May 5, 1995 and opened the first office on January 16, 1996. Tri-County Family Care center moved to the current office in April, 2008. The TCFCC is a "single point of entry" for

people in Otero, Bent, and Crowley counties with general and emergency needs to find the resources and services available to help them. TCFCC serves as a networking and coordinating center to connect the various services and resources for better utilization by the community. Since January 2000, we have served more than 4000 clients. 1800 individuals received referrals to various resources to help with basic living expenses or emergency services. TCFCC has been a member of Family Resource Center Association (FRCA) since 2004.http://www.cofamilycenters.org/
We have offered 755 trainings, parenting classes, educational workshops, home visits, car seat safety training, support groups and many other types of activities. For more information, please call us at (719) 254-7776 or visit our website at : http://www.tricountyfamilycenter.org

Tri-County Family Care Center will sponsor their 25th annual “Building Trust” contest
with LEGO kits on Thursday, August 20th, 2026, 5:30 p.m. in the pavilion, this is the open facility off of the Main street gate, at the Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds. (Please pay attention to change in location and date.) For the last few years, our event was on Sunday in the Bingo building. This year will be on Kids’ Day! We use LEGO kits, which will be provided free of charge for the participants to keep. This activity encourages parents or other adult sponsors to interact and be involved with youth.
Each team will include one child and one parent or adult sponsor. The concept of the activity is to illustrate good communication skills and to build trust between the team members. There will be a Junior Division (ages 5-8); an Intermediate Division (ages 9-12); and a Senior Division (ages 13-17). Each age category will be given a certain amount of time to build the kit. The adult will instruct the child on how to build that particular kit, without the child seeing the picture or reading the instructions. Each team will be judged according to how well they communicate and how much of the kit is completed during the time allowed.
For the Senior Division (13-17), the roles will be reversed by letting the child read the instructions to guide the adult on how to put the kit together.
Trophies for first, second and third places will be given for each age category, and each team will receive a participation ribbon. Each child participant will be able to enter a drawing for a grand prize.
A special category has been made for a man and woman couple to compete against other couples. They may choose who will build the kit and who will be instructing.
To pre-register, please come by Tri-County Family Care Center, 512 ½ North Main, Rocky Ford to pick up a form or you can register at our booth at the Fair. Pre-registration is advised because of the limited number of LEGO kits.
The LEGO activity has proven to be great fun for everyone involved for the last 24 years and we expect it to be just as successful for our 25th year! The kits were made available with a donation from the Knights of Columbus of La Junta.
