Advocacy Unlimited

Advocacy Unlimited Operating for over 30 years, we are the #1 nonprofit provider of holistic peer led recovery resources in CT. Let's treat everyone with respect.

Based in Rocky Hill and Hartford with statewide mobile services, phone based and virtual services for mental health, addiction, & trauma recovery. Advocacy Unlimited fights for social justice and collaborates with individuals by viewing the experience of distress through the lens of human and constitutional rights. We, as a community of people who have the shared lived experience of navigating sys

tems oppression, are committed to re-framing the dialogue around experiences of poverty, violence, trauma, and altered states of consciousness. We hold the truth that a person who experiences hardships is not “broken,” and that everyone has the inner capacity to heal, grow, and change. Our team envisions a world in which everyone – regardless of socio-economic status or psychiatric/addiction histories – has space to be seen, heard, and valued. COMMUNITY STANDARDS

A huge thank you to Shanika Malcolm for a powerful webinar exploring our connection to nature and the impact that disconnection can have on our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. 🌿

From grounding and mindfulness to Indigenous wisdom, play, and simple ways to reconnect with the earth, Shanika reminded us that healing ourselves and healing our relationship with the earth are deeply connected. 💚

What’s one way you connect with nature that helps you feel more grounded? 🌱 Share with us in the comments!

Did you know that we have a CEO?
Our Canine Execuative Officer, Norman, can often be found working hard at Advocacy Unlimited, and can occasionally be spotted at Toivo. We were very lucky that he was able to take some time out of his very busy day to sit down and talk to us about being the CEO of Advocacy Unlimited. Next time you're in Rocky Hill, stop by to check out our upcoming offerings and maybe get a chance to meet Norman.

Hey Recovery Support Specialist!
Have you heard about the Connecticut Certification Board's grandparenting process?

From now until October 1st 2026, Recovery Support Specialist who took the training before April 2026, can be grandparented in under the title of Certified Peer Support & Recovery Professional (CPSRP).

The CPSRP credential combines Recovery Support Specialists and Recovery Coaches under one professional credential for people delivering Peer Recovery Services in the state of Connecticut.

What you need to apply:
- A copy of your RSS Certification
- A government issued photo ID (i.e. driver license, passport, etc.)

How to apply:
- Head to ctcertboard.org/applications-renewals/
- Click on the box at the top of the page that says "CPSRP Grandparenting Application"
- Fill out the application and submit it

Within about 2 weeks you will then receive an updated certification via email from the CCB that will be good for 2 years.

What to do if you misplaced your certification:
If you took your RSS training through us, let us know ASAP that you need a replacement. Please submit a request at latest on Thursday September 24th, 2026 to accommodate both our and the CCB’s processing time. We will be unable to process requests in time for the grandparenting deadline after that date. If you took your rss training through another organization, please reach out to them directly to receive your certification.
