Fats, oils and grease (FOG) may seem harmless, but pouring them down the drain can clog pipes in your home and contribute to sewer backups.

Help protect your pipes and our wastewater system by placing food scraps in the trash, allowing grease to cool and disposing of it properly.

Cool it. Wipe it. Trash it.

Our team recently witnessed CAL FIRE in action during a grass fire response near Rodeo. Helicopters were seen collecting water from San Pablo Bay outside the treatment plant as part of the firefighting efforts before heading back to the fire area. A powerful reminder of the coordinated work that goes into protecting local communities and open space areas.

Thank you to all emergency personnel for their quick response and dedication. CAL FIRE

National Public Works Week is May 17–23. Much of the work we do at Rodeo Sanitary District happens behind the scenes, where our team maintains the sewer system that protects public health and supports the community every day. This year’s NPWW theme, Rooted in Service, Powered by Community, reflects our commitment and the impact of the work we do.

This marks the third time in the past four years the work has been completed internally, helping reduce costs while maintaining reliable operations. The photos in this video show the heavy lifting involved, with a focus on team safety and community savings.

This week, we’re recognizing International Firefighters’ Day and thanking the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District for their service. A few years ago, they responded to our facility to rescue a dog that had fallen into an aeration basin. Thanks to their quick response, the dog was saved. 🐕

We appreciate their partnership and the work they do to protect the community and save lives!
