Homeowners and renters impacted by April's severe weather and flooding in designated counties can now apply for FEMA disaster assistance. Temporary housing, home repairs and other eligible disaster-related expenses may be available.

I want all to know this Saturday at the Onaway Fourth of July parade. I will have a very special guest riding in the patrol car with me. This year’s honorary deputy is going to be Alice Forster the little girl who was viciously attacked earlier this year by two dogs. I want all to see what a beautiful girl she is with a positive spirit. And for all to give extra waves and support for her as we go by. We even have a special shirt for her. She will be wearing as our honorary, deputy, and along with us riding will be her mom and her brother and sister who helped save her during this attack.  I believe they are all hometown heroes for everything they’re going through in such a tragic event. So if you’re at the parade this Saturday, please give the lead patrol car extra attention to Alice and her family and let them know how much you support them as they go through the healing process. thank you and God bless from Sheriff Joe and I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend as we celebrate our country. 🇺🇸!

Date: July 1, 2026

Due to extreme and potentially dangerous heat index levels affecting Presque Isle County, emergency management has activated designated emergency cooling centers throughout the county. Residents who lack access to adequate air conditioning are strongly encouraged to utilize these air-conditioned public facilities to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Rogers City Area Senior and Community Center located downtown Rogers City.

*Hours of operation 10am-3pm.

Case Township Hall, Millersburg, Michigan

7am- 8pm

Presque Isle District libraries. They are located at Grand Lake, Millersburg, Onaway, Posen and Rogers City.
Please check their website www.Pidl.org for hours of operation and locations. Staying cool reading a book in the library is a great way to get out of the heat.

This dog is in the area of S 3rd St and W Ira St and in the alleyway off of W Ira in Rogers City. City Officer in the area is unable to get close to the dog. If you are the owner or know the owner, please come get her. Someone has given her a bowl of water but she is too scared to let anyone get close.

Presque isle sheriff office has received several calls reference people playing with in the road closed construction site on M68/Silver Creek. Please stay out of the construction site, we don’t want any one to get hurt or need any more delays.

MDOT advised me they are hoping to have the temporary culverts filled in by next week and paved. The permanent fix will happen next year.

Message from Emergency Services:

I want to give a huge Thank You to D.R.A.W. (Disaster Relief At Work). Their efforts to supply our county with disaster resources was beyond generous. Over 16 pallets of supplies were delivered over the last month. Muck-out buckets, shovels, bleach, rakes, hygiene kits, totes, fans, and brooms. The residents of Presque Isle County are greatly appreciative and we Thank you for all of your hard work.

We currently have a Dispatch/Corrections Position opening within the department.
This is a full time position with benefits. Qualifications required include: Excellent communication skills, ability to gather information, prioritize and multi-task in emergency situations, must speak clearly with good enunciation, ability to work rotating shifts/weekends/holidays, and possess typing and computer skills. Prior dispatch and correctional experience is helpful, but we will train the right person.
