War Eagle Mill in Arkansas is a special place in the Ozark Mountains with a long and wild past. It sits in the northwest corner of the state between Rogers and Eureka Springs, and it is just as pretty as it is historic. The bright red mill stands along War Eagle Creek with a small waterfall flowing beside it, a working water wheel turning below, and a narrow steel bridge stretching across the water. That bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. War Eagle Mill is the only working water-powered mill left in Arkansas, and it runs on an 18-foot cypress water wheel. There is also a restaurant and a general store inside the mill. The first mill was built in 1832, but the site has been destroyed three times—once by flood and twice by fire. During the Civil War, Confederate soldiers burned it so Union troops could not use it. The mill you see today is the fourth one, built in 1973, and it still grinds grain the old-fashioned way.

This fur baby, Lucy, had some ice cream to celebrate her dad's birthday. Happy 86! So glad you spent part of of your special day at the mill. We hope your cobbler was as sweet as y'all were!
